I'm not so sure the Empire was portrayed very well in Skyrim

Hello everybody! I'm new to the forums here and, as you can see, I'm a big fan of the Empire. :tops:

There's something which has been bugging me however in Skyrim. You know how you can see Dark elves travelling on the roads saying things like "I'm going to Solitude to sign up with the legion. I want to be on the right side"?. How come you never see a dark elf in the Legion?

I think it would have been much more realistic to allow non-nords to join and fight in the Legion, why is it just Nords? I always liked the Empire due to how cosmopolitain it is, but it seems lame when in game it is just Nords, yet you hear about non-nords joining up.

Anybody else agree? I would loved to see a couple of beast races in there too (especially Orcs, considering how they seem to be big fans of the Empire), maybe even some renegade Wood elves/ High elves? (I do know that there is a High Elf Legate)

Just a thing which annoys me, seems like something very simple Beth should have added. Opinions?

EDIT: I've just seen that the thread title might seem a bit off-topic. Pretend it says "Why don't non-nords join up in the Legion?"
