Nothing Official Yet?

I take it Bethesda is still in hiding since the update regarding the graphical/texture change for the worse?.I dont expect it to get fixed if im honest, as thats how they seem to operate (going by the past).

It would just be nice to hear something about that from them is all, and maybe one day release a patch which makes it look as good as it did prior to the latest patching.

The game sure was a contender for GOTY, but how this release with issues has been handled i hope it wont get recognized as such. Maybe that kind of thing goes by sales only and not how the game actually works, who knows.

Shame really.

I can forgive some bugs and glitches, even if they are gamebreaking as long as they can be fixed.
However, I can't forgive bad porting jobs anymore with the excuse that the PS3 is too exotic to program for. If you can't do it right, don't do it at all.
I can't forgive the complete LACK OF COMMUNICATION with a company's fan base and customers. Bethesda sets a prime example of what to be avoided by developers in the future.
A game is just a game. We'll get over it. The APATHY shown here pre-release and post release is just INSULTING and that, I can't get over.
So don't expect a true official response because there will not be one.

You can bash me all you want about the caps, say that these kind of posts don't get attention but the truth of the matter is that nothing does.
Next time I'll vote with my money.

They have to walk a fine line here. Take the comment that was made that a character reset wouldn't be necessary. That ended up not being entirely correct but the statement was made based on the information they had at the time.

Not communicating means that they don't want to mislead us, not that they aren't working on it. I'd rather only hear things that are certain than to be given any information prematurely.

The best of all worlds would be if they talked with us by just letting us into their thought process. Letting us know what they know and then how they expect to fix it. They don't have to give us absolute statements. But that's unlikely to happen as the media will take anything they're honest with us about and spin it into a harmful way.

If you must blame anyone for companies not being forthright, blame media and their incessant need to sensationalize everything.

I don't think an apology is premature at this point. In fact, I think it's overdue.

There has been a comment stating that "nothing was done that should have effected the graphic quality." Then again nothing was done that should have effected the magical resistances either.
Sounds like to me the patch was designed for the xbox and ported to the ps3, with the xbox graphical settings intact.

Its hard to comment on an issue that doesnt exist since the graphics were not downgraded by the patch. The rest of the issues with the patch notwithstanding. No graphical changes were made by the patch.

Shadows seem blockier and the draw distance seems reduced by quite a bit. I haven't seen any issues with textures.

Oh but they have. You can not say without a doubt they have not. It is quite evident that the graphic quality has been altered. You simply need to pull out your weapon in 1.1 and the same weapon in 1.2.

I believe the quote was that no change was made "to" affect graphic quality. It may have been a side effect.

The patch basically allows the ps3 to forget things and probably limits data size. This may harm rendering and keeping track of magic effects on some unexpected level without being made TO effect graphics.

If there's anything I learned from my days in marketing, it's that small words may mean nothing, but can mean everything. But eventually Bethesda will clarify.

Ok, Ive gotten really sick of this argument. And since the graphical downgrade camp doesnt want to provide proof of their opinion (and thats all it is at this point. no proof has been provided) then I will attempt to prove my opinion. Tonight I will remove the patch and pull out my weapon (so it will be at version 1.0, no patch at all), then I will patch and pull out the same weapon and attempt to take pictures off screen. I realize this isnt ideal, but its the best I can do. And a lot more than anyone in the graphical downgrade camp has done so far.

Im willing to admit that the patch might have made the textures not loading glitches more prevalant, But I dont believe for a second that they actually dialed down the textures..

Want to know why? God, Im so stupid, I cant believe no one else has mentioned this.... To have down graded the textures as some of you have said they did, they would have had to completely changed ALL the texture files to the lower resolution versions. That would be gigs upon gigs of texture files changed. And how big was the update? Like 92 mbs? Its not just a matter of changing some value in an options file and poof the texture resolution is lowered. They would have had to provide completely new assets for the lowered res textures.. Kind of like the xbox has out of teh box before you install the hi res texture disc...

Perhaps the people experiencing this problem ought to attempt a re-install, because I've certainly seen nothing to suggest a graphical downgrade and I appear to be in the majority. Since the game uses variable texture resolution (ie upgrades textures as you get closer to them, loading as you play) I suspect anyone seeing a permanent downgrade is having severe memory-related issues.

There has most definately not been a deliberate downgrade to the graphics.

Now I see why you do not understand. Graphical quality does not equate to textures being dialed down. The texture quality remains the same even if the distance required to see the change from the low detail to high detail image was reduced.
The fact you insist on making this about textures proves that you are incapable of seeing details or reading.

Besides the videos that already exist, I already gave you the reasons for the lacking evidence. I am sorry that you are incapable of reading my previous posts.

With the 1.2 update, nothing was implemented that would change how the visuals look.
To Gstaff's understanding of the 1.2 update which could be based on the same patch notes we were given nothing was implemented that should change the visuals. That is a true statement. However we do not know what was actually done. This would not be the first time Bethesda has misled the customer and it's pr team.

Please refer to my previous statement. The "proof" that everyone claiming that nothing was changed cling to is a low resolution video that would obscure all of the issues being discussed by those that notice the changes. Again the issue at large is not a major texture swap, it is a change to the details that many of you would consider minor however to the people who spend every day looking at details find them blatant to eye burning.

This has been explained numerous times in numerous threads by many people who registered here to make that comment who had no previous knowledge of anyone else saying the same thing. However the naysayers cling to the texture issue which makes no sense as the issue has nothing to do with major texture changes.

I agree, I think the patch might have made the hi res textures not loading issue a bit worse. But I havent experienced those issues at all. In fact I havent had any issues with the game at all. Nothing near to game breaking. Or even annoying. The most annoying thing I hvae experienced is the dumb companion AI>

All everyone is b!tching about, you included, is texture quality. Thats the main argument from your, completely wrong, camp.

I read your ill informed posts, and Im sorry but, i dont have the equipment to do the comparison, isnt a good argument. If someone in the scientific community tried to say that the grass was actually pink, they had better be able to provide proof or be prepared to be laughed off the stage. Just like we are all laughing at you right now.

So basically you are saying that you are the only one skilled enough to see the changes and that there is NO way to prove what you see? Thats called a delusion.

Yes because the average person should go out and spend 100-200 dollars to prove to another person on the internet something they could clearly see with their own eyes if they truly tried to look?

Let me make this simple.
The issue is not textures.
Graphic quality does not equal only textures.
graphics != textures only
graphic quality no equal textures only

Did that help you understand the statements people have been making? Good, now go back and read the threads and posts.

480p is not hd, and does not allow one to clearly see any of the issues. yes it proves the textures at 480p have not been changed.
I would cry if skyrim ran that ugly on my ps3 and hdtv.

LOL, I get what you are saying. Probably better than you do. But that wasnt the point of what you quoted. My point was that you have no evidence to support your opinion. And refuse to provide said evidence. We have proven our case with videos. Where is your proof. I dont care if its textures, bloom lighting, normal mapping, particle effects or any of that crap. Prove it. But you cant, so go away.

There will be nothing official about the unfixed bugs and the myriad of new bugs introduced.

There will simply be a 1.3 patch with a similarly vague list as 1.2.

* "Fixed occasional pathfinding problems with dragons"
* "Altered calculations for damage resistance"

They did say they would monitor the forums and issues so I have no doubt that now patch 2 has sorted lag on the PS3 (for most) and XBox textures that the 3rd patch will address non-technical issues in the game like quests etc...

I mean do people on here really think id take time out of my busy days (working 12hr days and doing all the wifey errands and such afterwards) to post on an official site complaining for no reason, when i could be playing the game??. Get real guys. If a game i have has issues, i want it fixed, seeing as i have paid good money for it.

I posted i have noticed issues regards the draw distance and other texture issues after installing the new patch for the game, because I ACTUALLY NOTICED THIS, and not because i want to bash people and talk down a product that i paid for. Why the [censored] people would make up [censored] just for grins is beyond me.

You obviously do not understand. And nice way to try implying you are the somehow smarter than everyone else.
I lack evidence because I am incapable of providing quality evidence not because I refuse. I could easily provide low quality evidence however that would not meet my own standard, and as such I should not push forward as 100% proof.
Yes I should waste money on a product I would use once to prove to you, and anonymous internet user something that you are incapable of seeing for some reason.

There's been no mention of patches being released on the main page, which is not surprising because Bethesda won't want any negative attention drawn to them, but this is indicative of Bethesda's general attitude, which is to say that they can't take any criticism at all. They give off a very pompous and arrogant attitude, which when looking at it as a user, is actually hilarious considering the broken state of their products. What's with this too-proud-to-admit-bugs attitude?

Ultimately their creative team redeem them, with their imagination and skill apparent in the game, and it keeps us coming back for more punishment.

I hate to pull out the old Naughty Dog card, but I was on their homepage earlier and they've got a gigantic patch alert taking up almost half the page! What a contrast. Doesnt matter if the patch is addressing a very controversial matter that pissed off gamers (bad aiming), the fact that there is open communication going on relieves the tension.

The fact that we're not hearing anything from Bethesda about our problems is making the forum reach a boiling point, it's just not good at all, because I like to think that Elder Scrolls fans are generally friendly people and not mindless baying trolls.
