I'm Now The Arch-Mage In The College In Winterhold

Top man , got his pad and all that goes with it , but if I got to the Library and got to open the book cupboards I get the red Steal .. what the ^^^^ , I'm the boss of the place but can't open up to look at the books.

you don't own the entire building and everything inside it
and they don't really have second copies of all the books in the library
so it'd have to be locked up for safety

If I remember correctly..... he even warns you by congratulating you and acknowledging your accomplishment, but warning you not to "muck" with his books. At least the level of respect is above the foolish mage scholars in Cyrodil, who were too busy to talk to their arch mage. Talk about insubordination. Still, I think the arch-mage guild quest line in Skyrim pales in comparison to the one in Oblivion in terms of content, although they did improve the respect that should accompany the position.
