Npc Fall Damage

Post » Tue Jun 05, 2012 3:55 pm

I met this guy near riften and he wanted help after bandits wrecked his cart. So i followed him to his camp and yeah it was a trick and they all attacked me. I then had to kill the guy that tricked me, and his camp was on a very high mountain/waterfall.

So i fus ro dah'd him off the mountain and went flying down the waterfall, now this waterfall must of been atleast 200 ft. Yep you guessed it he didnt die and was waiting for me at the bottom. So i then tried jumping down there and didnt even make it half way down!

So wth is going on?

Might be that he landed it water but you did not, remember you pushed him away from the wall.
You did hit the rock wall on the way down or you would not die before hitting the bottom.

I'm pretty sure npc takes fall damage, they did in Oblivion and should do here.

Yeah, he probably landed in the water.

I can assure they take fall damage. I've had a forsworn chick commit accidental suicide by jumping off a bridge whilest attempting to charge at me. She died on impact.

NPCs die for much smaller falls than that, he surely feel in the water, that's the only explanation for what happened.

What everyone else has said. I've jumped down waterfalls before and survived, and sometimes not. Just depends where/how you land.

I don't think that's a bug or anything. I've thrown plenty of Forsworn off of cliffs with my voice and usually they don't survive the drop. It all depends on how they fall and what they hit on the way down I guess.

Yeah I was fighting a Bandit Chief at Valtheim Towers once. Hit him with my weapon a few times, then used Unrelenting Force on him. For whatever reason, I went down in the river below, and there he was, still alive, with no less health.

He hit about 3 trees, smashed into the rocks about 5 times and then went off the edge. Theres no way you could of survived even by just hitting the water, i tried it many times and died every go. Even simulated it by whirlwind sprinting off the edge.

I Fus'd a bunch of Imperials off a very high cliff last night and several of them survived. When I peeked over the edge, one of them was on a ledge way below... say 200-300 feet and still shooting arrows at me. Two others took the long way around and hiked back up to get more flying lessons. There was no water to land in. I'm guessing fall damage isn't correctly applied sometimes. In other instances I've killed relatively strong enemies just by setting them rolling down a mild incline.

It cant be correctly applied. Like you say Ive also killed some people by shouting at them and send them rolling down a hill.

LOL this reminds me. There were a few times that WOLVES died by just simply running down a mountain towards me. You know, when they have to jump to scale down. haha
