NPC Freakout-bug not fixed. 11.10 version 2.

Post » Tue May 15, 2012 12:36 am

I am having 2 issues.

1. The mission NPC are freaking out and stuttering again.... shortly after installing 11.10 version 2 amd driver for my 5970. Everything appeared to be fine, then it proceeded to get worse and worse as time passed. but when I got to subway town it was in full-affect. Every single NPC that gives a mission or you can interact with does the stuttering now.

It says in the release notes in 11.10 version 2 - 10/7/11 that the npc stuttering was resolved. I can tell you for sure that it in fact was not. It appeared to be corrected at first but over time the stuttering came back in full force.

2. Sometimes I see an odd blue coloring on textures from afar. It disappears when I get closer, but it should be noted. This was seen a lot in the wasteland when driving. Again, did not see this immediately, it happened over time just as the npc stuttering did in the same way.

This pisses me off. I've uninstalled and reinstalled my vga drivers twice now to get this game working and it still isn't working as it should be. Either amd/ati needs to fire some incompetent people or this game simply shouldn't have been released in this state. I do recall bethesda releasing fallout new vegas which was also completely riddled with bugs. Considering Nvidia has a lot of issues as well I can't blame amd for this... This game should NOT have been released in this shape.

i7-2600k
Radeon HD 5970 2gb (all default settings)
11.10 version 2 release 10/7/11

I AM using the 8k texture fix and 95 FoV. I restarted the game back to default FoV and problem persists. Don't think the 8k textures are causing it either. Bad drivers are bad.

Never had the blue texture issue, but I did play some Co-op last night and the character models were glitching still. I also seem to take a massive frame hit when heavy firefights start.

Not having a frame rate issue, but this NPC stuttering is really bad.

The blue textures for me only happened a few times in the wasteland and were in far distances, I think it was shadows. When I got closer, the blue textures disappear and only ever come back if I re-load the area.

Really messed up. Currently stopped playing and waiting for a fix to this NPC stuttering issue. in 11.10 version 2's release notes it says NPC stuttering was resolved, but I can 100% confirm that in subway town that is not the case. The only good thing I can say about the 11.10 version 2 driver is that I'm not getting any more texture pops. Still some low-rest textures though, even with the 8k texture user-fix.

as I have red all thread here and steam forum, many people still have problem. now, I can confirm that it is not driver issue. the game has critical problem. period. usually this issue easily can fix. but it's not so far. huge mistake they used openGL.

Strange thing is, the game seemed, (for the most part) stable when I first installed 11.10 version 2 and started playing. This NPC stutter bug and these weird blue textures came a few hours later. No clue man... I'm thinking it still might be related to the drivers.

The loading actually works without crashing, so at least that was fixed... lol.

My amd board is crossfire, but I'm not using it.
I'm not responding to your driver problem as I'm on Nvidia, but mainly discrediting another user for saying the game itself is broken. Which its not.

I don't think it is either. I just think amd's drivers are terrible. Lol don't need evidence of this game to prove it either, their track record since I've owned my 5970 has been horrible at best.

I just want this NPC flickering // weird blue textures // resolved. So I can enjoy the game. I was actually thoroughly enjoying the game until this problem cropped up out of nowhere when I got to subway town

I had exact same problem in subway town. Man it was funny seing all these NPCs have a seizure. Hope it doesn't give anyone a real life seizure!

I also had some bosses with floating miniguns etc.

Restarting RAGE seems to fix the issue for a while. Seems to be a problem that gets worse over time.

Their all just bugging out wildly now having seizures lol.

Waiting for a fix before I continue playing. Maybe I'll do cards for a while until a fix comes. Love that card game btw.

The NPC's are flickering back and forth between their intended animations and combat animations. Interestingly, the combat animation seems to mimic the players movements. I played around with the flickering Dietrich in Subway Town. Every time I duck, the combat model ducks, when I jump it jumps. I turn slowly, it turns slowly. All the while his regular animation is there talking away. Both models go translucent from flickering, but you can still see pretty much everything.

Now honestly, it seems to me that that's not JUST a driver issue.

That is EXACTLY what I am experiencing.

i can confirm that 99% of NPC flickering and glitching is fixed, there is still a couple NPC's like the first 1 that drops out in the first arena room of the Mutant TV game you do for the Main Quest.

other than that i think there was one other npc but that was a world Spawn Mutant... he mightve bug out running in to a small rock or something.
