I have 3D set up and I can't wait to see what Skyrim looks like using it.

LoL this reminded me of the one guy from the movie "Half Baked" when he asks about seeing stuff.

"Hey, have you seen Skyrim?"...."Have you seen Skyrim...on weeeeeeed?" RofL

Back on topic though, I too am womdering if 3D will do anything for Skyrim. I haven't read anything especially pertaining to 3D for Skyrim. Has anyone heard anything official about it?

I'm hoping it works as well as Oblivion, 3D made that game's dated graphics look totally playable, but I managed to suffer through pre-official-support Human Revolution, can't see it being any worse than that. Haven't seen anything in the gameplay vids that looks like it would present a problem, it'll probably just be the usual skybox issue (quick to be fixed by modders) and maybe those cool new 3D previews of items in your inventory.

I myself love the 3D.. played witcher 2 and starcraft 2 and enjoyed it and also I watch 3d movies with power dvd 11. Only a gimmick if you dont use it or like 3D in the first place. Looking forward to the conversion. Lord of the Rings online looks nice in 3d also.

Its not that I don't enjoy how it looks, its that its ancient technology (by today's standards) and I think the money being invested in it should/could be placed elsewhere for better advancement in gaming technology.

Same, I purchased them a couple months ago and barely use them, I tried them once in Witcher 2 but the perspective is just all wrong, Geralt looks like an action figure doll, I've only used them more than once for Just Cause 2 because the vista's look cool, Oblivion renders the night sky and shadows incorrectly, Fallout 3 was not bad but I could not wear the glasses for very long due to the overall hue of the game.

I have, and it looks way more fun than the side-scrolling version.

My understanding is, that all computer games are mostly 3D-ready by default, because all rendering in the GPU is done in 3D-space anyway. One merely needs a suitable driver to transfer that information to the display device.

In fact, already many, many years ago I tried out a number of games (including some of the early Tombraiders on Win98SE and Oblivion on Win2k) in 3D using a set of cheapish LCD shutter goggles that connect to the anolog video cable going to a CRT monitor and were supported by a 3D Stereo supplement to nVidia's GeForce video drivers.

My experience was that it usually worked more or less OK (apart from an occasional loss of synchronization) but the main problem was that any additional 2D-elements, such as crosshairs, menus, or HUD elements, were usually disturbingly misplaced, unless the game was specifically designed to also give them a well defined and appropriate depth in the viewing field. I would guess that would still be the one thing that would specifically have to be taken into consideration by the developers if they wish to make a game perfectly playable in 3D.

Still, I would be interested to hear how that might work differently today, if someone has experience with a modern 3D-kit, especially with Bethesda games.

I've used mine with Oblivion, Fall Out New Vegas, dc universe online and a few other games. I generally like it but my eyes don't. I also wear bifocals and that's not a big plus either. I'll try them with Skrim, I think a dragon would really look good in 3 D.

I'm looking forward to it as well.

I hope skyrim gets on board, it's 2011. It's weird to see a popular company so behind in technology.

That's funny, I thought a lot of things in Witcher 2 looked amazing, but also thought all the characters looked like action figures. Only game I've played in 3D so far where that's happened. Felt like I was trapped inside a diorama or something.

Be happy fellow 3D Vision users, Nvidia just released a new beta driver, and it has both SLI and 3D Vision profiles for Skyrim, with the 3D Vision being rated Excelent.

I'm getting happier and happier :celebration:

Even though you can turn off the main crosshair in game. It doesn't turn off the sneak crosshair which is completely [censored].

Somebody must have snuck some serious 3d development love in under Todd Howard's nose, this game looks great. The perk selection interface gave me a total eyegasm.

I have a laptop with a 580M and a 1920x1080 75% NTSC 120mhz 3D screen but I haven't tried 3D on it yet. Also, I don't have a set of glasses. Will have to pick up a pair and give it a try.

Saw recently that you can pick up glasses that are wired (usb cable rather than a wireless emitter) for $100, vs. I think $150 for the full wireless version. I would think not having to deal with the tethered emitter might be more convenient with a laptop.
