When I started the Creation Kit, and following the tutorial I created the Plugin. However no objects appear in the tables. When I enter an item name and search for it, all the tables remain blank. The tool bars and controls work. It allows me to toggle between Interiors and WorldSpaces.

I have exited and restarted, created a new Plugin, but to no avail.

Seeing that sometimes I do not see the forest through the trees, what am I doing wrong?

You're not loading any ESM. File > Data, select both Skyrim.esm and Update.esm and wait. Press ESC at any warnings that may appear.
