Oblivion.exe crash error report knowledge

Who can tell me more about this frickin' annoying crash by the offset and such, like the OBSE team an tell.

It happens every time I load Oblivion. I am loading in the external world. I didn't have any problems until I generated distantLOD. BUT, I have removed the lod folder, as well as the Far_Nif's associated with it. I've tried the original meshes, and optimized meshes. I've disabled every mod in my load order, except for Oblivion.esm. It's a resource problem, but I can't pinpoint it. Any help[ would be appreciated.

I've also disabled OBGE.

Have you tried regenerating the Oblivion.ini and launching via the regular launcher, as opposed to the OBSE launcher. Have you done any Windows updates recently? A clean boot can help. That looks like a pretty general crash... Have you tried removing all of your loose Data folders except for Music, Shaders and Video? That should get you back to the Vanilla state, for the most part.

I've tried removing all the meshes and textures files, but not the sound files. I'll try that right now...

Nope. I've removed everything. Fonts, textures, meshes, sound, etc., launched from the original exe, and it still crashes when trying to load. I've tried the vanilla meshes.bsa, optimized meshes.bsa, etc. Looks like I am going to have to do a full reinstall.

Try a clean boot first. Did you rename the BSAs at all? It sounds like some sort of conflict. It's really crazy that the only major change is generating LOD data. Hopefully, it's just a service conflict...

Edit: Which folders do you have left? If you regenerating the Oblivion.ini, make sure you have the original names on the BSAs too...

Edit: I have screen shots of the original Data and Oblivion folder contents, just in case... http://s244.photobucket.com/albums/gg24/Tomlong54210/Oblivion%20Installation/

Okay. Thanks. I'll finish re-optimizing the meshes that I'm going to, and then reboot. I've never encountered a problem, in all my time playing Oblivion, where I needed to reboot the machine to correct it. But I have read about people having to do that.

It appears the crash is mesh related; possibly due to a malformed property in one of its nodes.

Ah, I knew there were people out there that could make heads and tails of the error reports generated by Windows.

I suspected that the problem was a mesh, as my computer froze when optimizing some. But I am no NOOB, and I pretty thoroughly troubleshot the problem, and couldn't correct it. So, I don't know. I'm not going to optimize as many meshes this time around.

Thanks, shademe.

And for those who are.... anything more than just "this mod did it" ? The author might appreciate whatever you can come up with if there's a bug to fix.

True. I'll post more details in the DLL thread.
