oblivion vampires vs skyrim vampires

Sorry if this has already been done but i just wanted to know if you feel the same way i do about skyrim vampires compared to oblivion ones. I defiantly like the oblivion vamps more but maybe dawnguard vamps will change my mind, not likely though.

Lore wise the Volkihar will always beat the Cyrodilic Vampires in combat since they are the strongest Vampire clan but the strength of the Cyrodil vampires comes in the fact that they know when to lay low and know how to hide themselves and blend in perfectly in society, the Cyrodil vampires tend to outlive the opposition..

example: They feed on sleeping people most of the time as to not raise suspicion..while the Volkihar sink their fangs into any living humanoid when they feel hungry be they asleep or awake and aware and will be able to sink their fangs into awake enemies/villagers whenever they want when Dawnguard comes out in their normal vamp form and VL form.

Game wise...in the Vanilla game they were basically clones..its just the Skyrim vampires didn't take damage in the sun and looked cooler and didn't age when they starved themselves....with Dawnguard the Volkihar are getting super buffed and will be getting their own transformation which I assume is specific to their clan since they are the strongest of the Vampires.

First of all welcome to that forum and have a fishy stick...http://images.uesp.net/c/c4/Fishystick.jpg

Secondly, I agree. I much preferred the Oblivion Vampires to Skyrim.

well, the Oblivion vampires never got a fancy expansion pack. so, because of the newly added lore, the Skyrim Volkihar vampires are my favorite'

Cyrodillic Vampires: First of all these vampires lose health when in broad daylight and cannot get anywhere during the day, which means they cannot do certain quests that take part in the day making it almost impossible to finish the story.

Skyrim Vampires: These Vampires are better because when in broad daylight they don't lose health their Stanima, Health and Magicka just doesn't regenerate but your skin does slowly burn and your highly vunerable to fire but resistant to frost.

In Oblivion you could go out into the sun if you had fed within the last 24 hours, so you could complete any quest during the day as long as you fed before hand.

Exactly. Besides I feel that the point of actually being a Vampire is to NOT be able to go in the "direct" sunlight at all. In Oblivion, If you were at high stages, you fried up like Freddie Kruger in a matter of seconds. That's they way it should be.

Oblivion's vampires by far are much better than Skyrim's they are a lot stronger, and they actually had some noticeable facial changes when they progressed through the stages. The only thing I didn't like was the wrinkles we had as a vampire in Oblivion.

Where are you all getting that the Volkihar are the most powerful vampire tribe? It doesn't say that anywhere.

In the book Immortal Blood, but I think it says they are the most powerful tribe in Skyrim.

Cyrodiilic vampires had greater powers than the current Volkihar. In Skyrim, we only get a boost in illusion and a few other things.

~Gameplay for Skyrim vampires~
  • Weakness to Sunlight - Health, Magicka, and Stamina do not recover while in sunlight and the skin will appear to slowly burn as the player spends time in the sunlight.
  • Resist Disease - Your vampiric blood gives you 100% resistance to disease.
  • Resist Poison - Your vampiric blood gives you 100% resistance to poison.
  • Night Stalker's Footsteps - Vampires are 25% harder to detect while sneaking.
  • Champion of the Night - Illusion spells cast by a vampire are 25% more powerful.
~Gameplay for Vampires in Oblivion~

Increases:

  • http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:Hand_to_Hand
  • http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:Illusion
  • http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:Mysticism
  • http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:Sneak

http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:Attributes that gain a bonus:

  • http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:Willpower
  • http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:Speed

Lore Differences:

Cyrodiilic Vampires were considered the top clan in Cyrodiil because they ousted all other competitors. They had eradictated all vampiric rivals within their borders. They are possibly the oldest clan in Cyrodiil due to their name being lost in history. They also are the most organized, considering they abide by strict tenets(which some of their members are too ignorant to follow). All other provinces had more than a single vampire clan. The others could have a single tribe, but it is not known. The Whet Fang could be the only vampire clan in Argonia as well. They worship and follow Molag Bal and Clavicus Vile.

Volkihar are only known for reaching through the ice without breaking it and freezing the blood in people's veins. In Dawnguard, all I can say is that they turn into large bat-like creatures. Volkihar possibly follow Molag Bal.

Personally, as obvious, I prefer the Cyrodiilic vampires. The gameplay bonuses surpass the ones in Skyrim and when starved for 72 hours, I think a Cyrodiilic vampire has a chance to best a regular vampire in Skyrim.

Yes, it says they are the most powerful tribe in Skyrim, not the most powerful tribe those are two very different things.
In combat power.
Not really. Statistically the vampires of Morrowind, Daggerfall, & Cyrodil are all stronger than Skyrim's.

In the games, the vampires of Morrowind, Daggerfall, & Cyrodil are all physically stronger, more magically capable, & better at stealth than Skyrim's.
Skyrim's vampires are just better at Illusions.
In the lore Skyrim's vampires are savage beasts who live under lakes, & eat people.
There's actually no reason for anyone to think Skyrim's vampires are stronger.
Given that every single other province's vampires are more powerful by several magnitudes, & that doesn't even include the ones we don't know about.

If you really want to talk about the evidence we have, Skyrim is home to the weakest, most pitiful vampires.
Vampires even weaker than the Cyrodillic strand.

Yeah, I am not sure where everyone is getting the idea that the Skyrim vampires are the strongest because I find them weak. I would say the Cyrodiilic vampires are by far the strongest.
