Obsidian Entertainment and our legendary game designers Chris Avellone, Tim Cain, and Josh Sawyer are excited to bring you a new role-playing game for the PC. Project Eternity (working title) pays homage to the great Infinity Engine games of years past: Baldur’s Gate, Icewind Dale, and Planescape: Torment.

We talked a lot about the genre and to be honest we kept on coming back to fantasy. With all the experience we have had with a lot of varied fantasy settings, we are really looking for to taking our unique approach with factions, characters and mature themes to the setting. Ultimately, we really feel that what an RPG is about is the characters and the story – not the setting.

If the Kickstarter succeeds, this will be a franchise. "It means we FINALLY have a world of our own that we can build upon, not just for this title but for future releases down the line. We've wanted to do our own RPG world for a long, long time, and it's been hard to pursue outside of existing franchises. Project: Eternity is our chance to take all the RPG knowledge, mechanics, lore, and characterization we've learned over the years and turn it into the game our fans have been hungering for."
Coming to PC, Mac and Linux, on Steam and GOG. You can get a copy for $25. Boxed copies are also available.

Current stretch goals met:
Player House, Mac, Linux, DRM-free option, a Bigger Story, 2 more classes, 2 more races and 2 more companions.

It is currently approaching the 2.2 million milestone, which will add a new faction, new areas, another companion and french/german/spanish translations. 2.3 million will add a new race and some special difficulty options. They'll probably announce future stretch goals soon.

On October 3rd it will also be possible to pledge through Paypal for those who don't own a credit card.

Any idea what could have caused that small spike in backers of DFA and WL2 at day 16-19? People receiving their monthly paycheck?
