We've all done the quest, many of us multiple times. But something has always bugged me:

When you return the claw, Lucan comments how the claw is smaller then he remembers. Is this significant or something?

Insignificant

Hmph, I thought it was something like you using it to open that door, and it took some form of energy from the claw, thus making it smaller.
