Oghma Infinium - Various Uses for arcane archer?

Post » Tue Sep 18, 2012 2:08 am

Ive recently discovered this glitch (yes i know im behind the times) and ive been thinking about different ways of using it.

Im currently playing as an arcane archer, my plan up to level 50ish is to put points in sneak and archery as my main form of combat, Blacksmithing and enchanting to make my arcane bows, and a little destro to buff my frostfire bow. the highest i've ever got any character on this so far is around level 40 before i made another file, accidently deleted old ones (wish the save file system was better on the xbox) etc.

My plan after level 50 is to dump points in light armour, alchemy and speech and take some more points in the enchanting tree to finish it all off except for storm enchants.

Ive heard that for the last lot of points, things get very difficult as you have to play out of your class (eg ill have to run around in heavy armour casting illusion/resto spells for ages to get my points to put in a totally different tree).

So bearing this in mind, i have 4 suggestions for myself.

1.) Totally ignore the book and pretend i didnt find out about the glitch
2.) get 100 skill points in all the skills i actually use, and then use the book glitch to fill up the trees i dont want to use
3.) use the book immediately to fill up the warrior/mage trees so i only have to actually grind the stealth tree
4.) use the book immediately and see what my finished character will be like while i try to do everything in Skyrim.

and my responses:
1.) kinda hard to ignore the book if im going to have to run around in the wrong armour casting spells with no mana pool.
2.) seems the most sensible idea, ill be sticking faithfully to my class, and then removing the 'playing out of character' bit
3.) seems the most fun, as ill have got the pointless bits out of the way, and will have to grind things like light armour (which i will be using anyway) lockpicking, pick pocketing etc, which is always fun for a stealthy character.
4.) is good form a lore perspective, but i lose interest quite fast sometimes once the grind is over in other games.

personally im leaning toward number 2 or 3 bearing my own ideas in my mind. Thinking of backing up my save and seeign if 3 doesnt gimp me too much as i find that idea most fun. if it does gimp me having so many out of character perks, ill probably reload and do number 2.

Does anyone else have any ideas relating to this to suggest? ill keep my back up save of before the book regardless, as i might even one day want to go back to option 1 anyway.

Also when i made this toons class up, i didnt prepare for the fact that i got bitten by a vamp shortly after start. i dont know if the resto vampirism would affect my arcane archer. He basically makes a bow, enchants it for frost and fire so i have extra damage, and snare effects, and has perks in destro to buff frost and fire damage plus the enemy stun/flee perks after to keep people out of melee range.

I'm not sure whether I prefer honey, or jam with my peanut butter sandwich.

Did you WANT to be a vampire?
