Okay, I'm finished - my thoughts.

First, I'd like to preface everything by saying a few things.

Wow. LOVED it! Hot looking, sixy playing, mass killing awesomeness. After a few config tweaks [I wouldn't play until it looked right so I played the whole thing as good as it could get for me] I was hooked. While crouching around areas http://img831.imageshack.us/img831/3323/rage2011100914243744.jpg I'd often find myself muttering, wow, this game is so awesome. I don't want it to end. I mean, the art direction is incredible. The level of care and attention to detail [http://img14.imageshack.us/img14/8433/rage2011100915441476.jpg http://img15.imageshack.us/img15/9636/rage2011100915493598.jpg] was just insane. Now I've played my share of games and I've modded FO3, FNV, STALKER, UT and I have practical 2d / http://img192.imageshack.us/img192/4661/picozz.png experience [knowing what it takes to pull all that off] and I can say without a doubt that this game has some of the http://img834.imageshack.us/img834/5952/rage2011100914404646.jpg I've ever seen and that will likely remain that way for a long time. Some will argue, of course, it is subjective.

Having said all that, I am left with a few minor niggles.

As has been mentioned by others, the ending was far too abrupt. No point in getting all involved in explaining that part as most of you already know. For me, it's not so much that it ended in such an anticlimactic way [far too little build up to it] but rather that I was basically thrust into the level as a single run-through lasting all of 20minutes then it was over. My game-play went from traveling around, taking jobs, getting bounty's, doing races to suddenly I'm rushing the Authority on their home turf and 'game over'. ): poo. It just did not fit at all. I'm left wondering if any incoming DLC's will showcase the City a lot more. not that what I saw left me wanting to see more, I just think more could be done around it. As the antithesis of the wasteland style game-play I'd become accustomed too, it might be interesting to see where you will take me in that location.

The story, was... Expected. nothing new going on there but I'm not big on story very often so I don't consider that a good or bad things there. I'm pretty ambivalent about story, generally speaking. Give me the cliff-notes and let me be on my way so on that level, it worked for me just fine. However... It's funny because part-way through the game [shortly after reaching Wellspring] I was hearing all this hate for the Authority and was wondering why I [ the character] was being thrust into this Authority-hating mentality when I knew nothing and had no experience with them. I was hoping that all this build-up was going to lead to some NPC interaction al la "They don't understand the big picture" dystopian-style rant by some head Authority honcho. So even if I didn't have a choice, I would have liked to have been kissed first.

But nope, that didn't happen. As the game progressed it quickly became apparant to me that I [the character] was just going to be rail-roaded into hating and fighting the Authority. Lame. Not to suggest I should be given a choice, but truth be told, a few times I thought to myself, well I think I'd like to hear their side of story first before I go charging in and wasting their low-wage recruited officers. So, for me, that is the biggest knock on Rage. The fact that I was just abused by a dozen towns folk, across miles of wasteland to fight a war I knew nothing about by people I knew less, against people who's motivation wasn't entirely clear until well near the end and long past too-late to be friends. [not that that was an option to begin with but I think you understand what I'm saying here]

On the minor-minor front, I don't care much for driving games. I expected a modicum of mission based driving games, you know, in order to justify the feature but beyond those - I raced maybe 5-6 times to pick up some extra certs for upgrades and that was about it. The card game, Rage frenzy, I played once. The knife game, once... Never played any of the others. That, reproduce the chords that guy was going to play me in Subway Town? With the guitar, I got halfway through reading the intro to that and could't exit out fast enough. I hold none of these against the game. They are neither positive or negative as far as I'm concerned but I am mentioning it because I would have rather enjoyed more levels and missions. nuff said there.

I hated that whenever I tossed a grenade or use any kind of explosive, they turned the NPC into mush with nothing to loot. Sure, we could argue that's the case because there would be nothing to loot if you blew them up, but then I would have liked to be able to pick up all those dropped weapons... Can't have one or the other... Either they should drop their loot even if they are mush or we can pickup dropped weapons as ammo.

I could go on, and I might, another time - but for now, I got this all off my chest. the internet has served me well today and I'm out.

Well done id. I can't wait to see where you take us next (:
