Okay, so, uh.. I'm a nerd.

I watched a vid on youtube called 'Skyrim Rehab'... Look it up, it's hysterical if anyone hasn't seen it yet.

And then had to make one

But I'm not sure how to make the horns. Ideas?

I saw that vid awhile ago, it was funny :D. sadly I do not know how to make the horns, but the helm looks good so far. Good luck.

i was thinking i could try to twist more cardboard, but i'm not sure how i would get it to hold a curve. I might piddle around the metal shop at work tomorrow and see what i can find. I think ultimately I'm going to attempt to make one out of real metal. We've always got a ton of scrap lying around, and the means to weld...

Looks very nice. Don't know what you could use for the horns though.

if you have access to a metal shop and welding equipment why not get some real goat horns or small bull horns? you could probably find some at a flea market or yard sale, maybe even craigslist pretty cheap.or merk a goat and get horns and hide for armor for free lol. sounds like a cool project.throw some pics up if you do,i'd love to see it when its done

Dude, awesome idea. My favorite helm is the Ancient Nord helm. Antlers would be easy to acquire, but that detailing... whew. I wonder if it would be possible to weld details on?

Depending on the metal being used, an Airhammer (with a dull chisel/hammer) would make the detailing of the Ancient Nord Helm go very quickly. An acid could be used to age the metal and remove shininess.

You wanna make horns? What's wrong with going out into the wilderness and slaying a goat or something? ;)

What kind of metal would be best?

I've got access to cold rolled steel, but I'd worry about rusting. The other option is stainless.

That's not nerd. That's awesome.

Personally, I wouldn't make the horns out of metal. Weights too much. I'd personally use paper pulp: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pulp_(paper) and reinforce it with glue once it has dried into the shape you want it. After that, paint it in any fashion you want, and once against cover it with clue. Should be light, but not fragile.

Go kill a minotaur, then use its horns :P...... really though try the card board. and fill it with cotten balls and surround it in duct tape. that will make it stable.

Steel, with a removable leather or cloth liner. You can always use a sealer to prevent rust.

For solid parts for costumes I'll usually carve things out of soft material like balsa wood, wrap it, and paint over it.

But anyway, that is awesome. XD.
