Old School Video Game Theme for Dorms.

Post » Tue Aug 07, 2012 11:38 am

I am a Resident Assistant in a dormitory and our theme this year is old school/retro video games. Each hall gets to pick their own game and some good ones have already been chosen.

I can't pick-

Mario (or anything associated with the mushroom kingdom)
Donkey Kong
Sonic
Super Smash Bros.

What I need-

I need a game that is known to all the drooling masses, and that isn't too nerdy. Something that will really hit home and make them go "Woah! I remember playing that game!"

So far I have nothing.... I was going to do Donkey Kong but one person got it before I could say anything.

Mario seems a-like the most obvious a-choice. I don't consider myself someone familiar with retro video games and I've still played Mario.

Otherwise maybe Pac-Man or Space Invaders?

Pacman would be a good choice, but it's mentioned. Besides, you could blare Pacman Fever song at the wee hours of the morning :P

Asteroids - large crumpled pieces of paper in the room, some sort of trianle thingy for the main ship, a couple wire clotheshanger models for the alien ships - Great for the messy dorm room

Qbert - milk crates, or boxes stacked in a pyramid - practical for storage as well!

Centipede - balloon taped together - but the mushroom theme might be a no-no :P

I can't think of how to make it, but Missle Command might be good as well.

Do Galaga and make tons of space ships and aliens.

Or Legend of Zelda, that is a good classic.

Or Pac-Man, simple but recognizable.

Or Mario Kart, that would seem fun.

Pacman just got taken. I was going to do that one but I got an email saying that one guy just took it! Lame!

Call of Duty. :D

That would be good, but it's too... not interesting to me..

Hmm... I like the Galaga idea. It would be pretty easy to do that! As long as there was enough pictures to keep it interesting.

I threw that idea out there and I got laughed at...

You can have the ship as a center piece. Then have some bee alien thingys, then some butterfly alien guys, and have some sinister looking scorpion alien dudes capturing another ship.

You got laughed at for GoldenEye? You should just quit the competition right now.

There is no excuse for this. They must be arrested and swiftly sentenced to life imprisonment.

For England, James.
