Once fallout 4 comes out, what will happen with skyrim?

Post » Sun Oct 28, 2012 4:19 pm

I dont really play fallout but is it coming out anytime next year? and if it is, what will happen with Skyrim? Will Skyrim still be getting patches, dlc etc? Or will it be for the next generation consoles? I hope they dont forget about Skyrim. I just hope that the majority of the bugs are fixed.

They said that it would be on this generation's console and be sold by 2013. I suspect that Skyrim support will cease after the release of FO4, but that's just me.

Skyrim boards will literal be a ghost town with new topics coming so rarely.

I'm still holding out hope that the next Bethesda Game Studios game is Elder Scrolls VI. Screw Fallout... the games are fun but I'll always prefer Elder Scrolls.

It'll go like this: 1.9 to 1.10, 1.11, 1.12 and so on.

I don't really care if the next game they make is Fallout or TES, I just want it to have better writing.

To answer the OP though, I think Skyrim's support will wither and die long before Fallout 4 hits shelves. At least in regards to patches and bug fixing.

They will focus on Fallout. It is the cycle, and the cycle must continue...

Hopefully it will be nothing at all like TES and TES fans will thus stay with Skyrim.

The next TES will be developed I'm guessing around 2016-2017 with the next-gen consoles. Don't expect it soon, I rather them take their time this time around then them finishing to reach the deadline making a really buggy game.

With the previous games their support has been dropped long before the next one is even announced. BGS takes quite long to make these games. I wouldn't expect hearing from Fallout 4 next year, or the year after that.

Agreed. I don't even want to get into the extent of my criticism there, but.....yeah.

Sorry, shouldn't have said "they", its just a specualtion.
Fallout 3 came out on Oct.08
FO3 GOTY came out on oct.09
FONV came out on oct.010
FONV GOTY came out on oct.011
plus the next gen consoles aren't scheduled to release this early not until 2016 at the latest.
I doubt they would wait 4 more years to release FO4.

I'd put my money on Fallout coming out in late 2013 or 2014 and TES VI coming out in 2016 or 2017.

New Vegas was an exception, Obsidian made it. Bethesda Game Studios had nothing to do with it. Instead look at the time between Morrowind and Oblivion, Oblivion and Fallout 3 and Fallout 3 and Skyrim to get an idea of the pace of the games' releases.

Morrowind. 2002. Oblivion. 2006. Skyrim. 2011. Fallout 3 2008. Fallout New Vegas under a different dev team 2010. It takes Bethesda a long time to make new RPG's. So if we go by the 4 year average mark starting in 2012 because Bethesda didn't dev FONV we're not due for another Fallout til 2016.

When Bethesda releases another game, they generally don't release content or patches for the previous game. But they have quite a while to fix Skyrim, considering their next game hasn't even been announced.
