I have completed the quest No One Escapes Cidhna Mine but every time i enter Markath the guards approach me and say iv committed crimes and starts the same dialogue for the quest and when i say i submit and take me to jail the dialogue just restarts and its a never ending story my only choice is to fight or run so i can't complete any quests in Markath because of this issue has anyone else had the same issue or have a fix for this i would like to complete the Stormcloaks quest line!!?

This or a similar bug seems to effect everyone.

When you escaped the mine did you join in the fighting?

For me I have a less serious version of the bug. The guards only attack me if I enter the shrine of talos but then I didn't join in the fighting.

yea i fought my way out and lost them when we left the city they ran ahead but it completed the quest so I'm not sure the only reason why i stopped moving with them was because the guards were attacking my horse :S

This happens to me, and doing the dark brotherhood quests in markarth you end up getting a bounty on your head. Whenever I try to pay off my bounty, the message box disappears and they say "You'll never see the sunlight again." or "no one escapes cidhna mine".
So no matter what, the guards try to kill me. I had to sneak into my house there (I'm a thane of markarth), and move my wife and belongings to a new house. This is VERY frustrating as markarth was my favorite place.

I just completed this last night without problems.

I found a way around this! If you have not already completed it, in the storm cloaks quest line get up to the quest were you have to blackmail the steward in markath complete it and all the guards change to storm cloaks and then they will not bother you again. Its best to do this at night so that the steward is asleep in his bed next to the item that you need to steal to blackmail him (make sure you take it out of the draws while sneaking) then talk to him immediately and your done just run out complete the next quest for the storm cloaks and its done. The tricky part is to get enough time away from the guards to steal the item and talk to him.

The stormcloaks already have taken over. No luck there, I'm stuck.

Happened to me and it's the worst bug I've seen so far.

Here's how I cleared the bug. First thing that I did (not sure whether it's essential but I think it isn't) was to reload and kill Madonoch. Fortunately, I saved at the point where you're told to kill Grisvar the Unlucky, because I sensed that this could be done either way. Also fortunately I had ramped up one-handed weapons, bound sword and conjuration, because getting through the ruins would be no joke if you were dependent entirely on weapons and armour.

Okay, now I walked around Markath and checked that I had no bounty with the city guards. So far so good.

Then I went to the shrine of Talos and found that I was in the loop again, with those guards wanting to kill me. So I ran outside and paid my bounty to a city guard, who sent me to prison as normal, not to the Mines.

Then I went back the Shrine of Talos and confirmed that the loop was ended. Eltrys had 811 gold on him, so I didn't lose much in the way of gold. Of course, I didn't get the Armor of the Old God, but at least I haven't ruined an entire city for myself.

I killed Madanach and have no problems so far.

Am in the same scenario. on my quest list it's coming up as "completed" as a whole but the individual objective of "escape cidhna mine" hasn't updated. Quite upset by this

Instead of helping the guy escape I killed him, and I haven't had any problems. I think the bug might occur when you choose to help the guy escape.

To the OP, I just made a thread about this too. Guess I should have researched first. I hope they fix this asap I can't wait till after thanks giving lol.

I imagine it'll be after Thanksgiving I'm afraid. I'm just having to do other quests for the time being and avoiding Marketh completely (Didn't like the place anyway!). If it doesnt get fixed soon I may have to resort to just making loads of invis potions and getting through the streets that way

Having the same problem. This is near game breaking, since so many missions seem to involve going to Marketh. I can't even do the stormcloak mission now, since it's near impossible to get in jarl's home without a guard harassing you, and a dozen more appear to kill you. Frustrating!

Hey if u haven't already completed the storm cloak quest were you have to blackmail the steward then your in luck because this is how i fixed mine just run throughout the guards do it at night and go steal what u need and talk to the steward when he is asleep and once u have done this run out of the city finish the quests in the reach for the storm cloaks and the guards will change to storm cloaks and you will be all good!

The exact same thing happend to me, what I found out was the first set of guards in the talos temple who try and arrest you. If you attack them, like I did then that starts the glitch. I attacked them, ran out and then realized it was futile and gave up. Then when I though the quest was completed I was constantly harassed by the guards until I ran back in the Talos temple. The guard approached me and started a new convo thread and it eventuallly fixed the glitch. It was very aggravating to say the least. This happend way before I started the civil war quests.

yea now that i think about it i attacked them as well i was like [censored] off I'm going to jail when I'm trying to help ppl out hahahah but at least you figured out what caused the glitch!

I didn't attack them, and I still got the bug.

I've tried everything that people have said, trying to become Thane, running back into Talos temple, trying to pay off Bounty Hunters etc (The only thing I havent done is the Stormcloaks mission as it's too late for that ). I am still unable to go anywhere near Marketh. It's quite upsetting now as the only quests I have left for the Thieves guild are in Marketh but no matter how I do a job I get told that I was caught and spent time in Jail so the Theives Guild Quests fail everytime
