Im a thief based and want to know if im using daggers , but im leveling up ''one handed'' skill , so , should i pick the perks in one handed too?
oh , also , is it worth lvling up smithing or enchanting for a thief?

imo if you want to use daggers work up the right side of sneak tree.

also smiting/enchanting isn't necessary imo for a thief. i go more alchemy for poisons.

im having trouble killing enemies , since my daggers dont do so much damage unless i come from behind , in a face to face im dead in no time , is there a way to get better in face to face if going from behind fails?

as a stealthy, i only use daggers while stealth and from behind... i switch to duel wield swords when in face to face combat.

I deliberately developed my Assassin so that he usually gets a beating if he ends up in an open melee with a competent opponent. It's more fun that way. Eventually he became strong enough to take on most foes in plain combat, but most of the time I had to resort to stealth kills. But I guess it's a nice backup to invest some perks in one-handed damage in general.

One thing you can do is have a follower; a fighter type who'll take the aggro off of you, allowing you to sneak around and b/s them. Also, yes you should also focus on one-handed, especially dual wield. Consider: taking all 5 levels of Armsman makes your daggers do 2x the amount of damage; 2 levels of dual flurry makes your attacks 35% faster; and dual savagery gives you additional 50% damage on top of that. Couple that with backstab, which gives you 6x damage for a sneak attack and Assassin's blade which gives an additional 15x damage and you're awesome! Of course, you have to survive to get there, lol. If you're intent on soloing, you probably should use swords at first, until you get up to where some of these multipliers start kicking in.

Daedric Daggers [79] +15x damage sneak skill = A Whole Lotta Messing Things Up.

79x15=1185

...Then figure in possible poison, elemental damage: ~460.

1185 + 460 = ~1645

...then figure in 1-Handed perks additions.

...oh, and I forgot about the power attack increase to damage. [Does this get the x15 multi?]
