One handed puts me to sleep

I've tried so hard to make a character using 1 handed... whether it's dual wield, sword and board, or axe and spell (the best of the 3)... I can't do it. How do you guys play with the T-rex reach? Twohanded, archery, and magic are all superior in fun in my opinion even if it might not be the best statistically.

Cool story bro. Looking like a drunken brawler who swings his greatsword like it weighs 5x what it should is definitely more fun than a mix of quick and power attacks, dodging, blocking, shield bashing etc.

A thread isn't complete until someone takes offense over a completely innocuous statement and insults the other poster.

I can't stand sluggish two-handed weapons and almost never use them in any game. I prefer speed over a 10% reach advantage and more powerful single blows. If we were dueling in the original Diablo, you with a two-handed weapon that does more damage per strike and me with a one-handed weapon, you'd never land a hit because I'd always hit you before you complete a swing, and as soon as you're hit your attack is halted and must restart.

I've tried two-handed and it wasn't for me, I like the combination of speed and defense that sword-and-board brings to the table. It all depends on your own preferences really, I want a style that makes me essentially the juggernaut, it doesn't matter how long it takes me to kill the enemy.

I do enjoy archery, but magic is dead tedious compared to sword and shield in my experience. Haven't tried 2H yet though.

I have to agree with this. I've had two characters that dual wielded primarily, and now I'm playing an Archer that uses a two-handed weapon as backup. Even if dual wielding does more damage after you hit 60-70 skill level (don't remember what it is for the +50% power attack damage), it still isn't as fun because you literally have to be point blank every time or you are going to miss some of your hits, if not all from the power attack. Two handed weapons may be inferior for long term on a single target, but they are much easier to use for quick bursts and as a defensive attack. It's actually pretty insane how quickly a couple of power attacks with a Wuuthrad do compared to say double summoned weapons (or their equivalent in Skyforge/Glass).

I've seen some pretty cool finishing moves while using swords in both hands.

How does he look drunk?

My Orc looks like he's dancing with his freaking huge ebony axe.

Well I have not used ether one-handed or two-handed weapons that much, and have no perks in them, though with 100+ hours of play I have had importunity to use them. I have also tried melee with dual daggers, dagger and spell, and just a dagger... and it all ends up the same. I die and miss more often then not. Two-handed was slightly easier, mostly because did not have to hit so many times.
In the end I ended up using magic, archery for range sneak attacks (just enough perks for zoom), and a dagger for cutting throats.

It is totally personal preference and gameplay style, impossible to quantify, if you don't enjoy it then you don't enjoy it.
I like 1handers due to having to move around a lot more doubly so when dual wielding, dancing in and out of range of other melee and rapidly closing the gap on range users then running circles around them to prevent the hitting me.
I like 2handers because it feels big and awesome when smacking someone with them.
I like archery due to the feeling skill of planting a shot in an enemies head at distance.
I like magic because it has a lot of neat effects and spells to play with.

Personal preference for me is nearly always melee even through I have no dislike of other play styles I invariably end up using melee a lot. Sometimes I sneak sometimes I tank some times I run around like an idiot waving a huge 2hander :D
