Get a Troll But seriously I don't think there is a way to fix that. It might be like the housecarl in your house asking if you are lost. Try not making him a pet then bring him back.

Richard here is right, forget the dog. Head to Fort Dawnguard, speak to 'ole Gunmar and buy the kiddies their own Armored Troll! They'll love it and it will teach them responsibility!

I'm not sure about that but I do know that an armored troll won't make a very good pet. I was pretty much joking about buying one to be a pet anyway. Your followers and companions recodnize them as hostile so I don't think that's something you want to bring around the family.
