One massive water plane VS several smaller ones snapped toge

Hey everyone,

So, I'm making a very large oceanside cave, very similiar to the Broken Oar Grotto. However, I've possibly encountered some issues. If you look at Broken Oar Grotto, they've placed several 2048x2048 water planes and snapped them together. I've done the same thing, following suit. However, when swimming underwater between the planes my character appears to take a breath, and sometimes it violently flings me towards the seabed, as if some weird form of gravity suddenly affects me. I wonder what's causing this, since I would assume it doesn't happen in the grotto.

It doesn't always happen when I cross the plane boundaries, and sometimes it happens in between, which makes me wonder if that's even what's causing it.

So, I'm considering just having one water plane that's scaled up massively (like 6-8 times) so it can just cover the entire level. It's one giant open room, so no roombounds or culling, meaning the water should be loaded at all times. Does anyone see any potential problems that doing so could cause? Or should I be good to go?

Thanks,
AJV

I get the same thing when swimming through the Grotto. I tried placing a few instead of one to get around rotating the water (because only the surface seems to rotate, I could swim in the areas where the water would be if it wasn't rotated) and the same thing happens when moving across planes. The only thing I can think of is putting a sadbarish thing near the meeting points that forces them to surface or use one really big one if you can.

I'm just wondering if there are any downsides to placing one big one instead. I guess I'll just have to try it and hope for the best. It's weird that they get that effect but they didn't notice or change it.

There've been threads about this issue before: http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1390653-water-will-this-idea-work/

The last comment is interesting. I wonder if it works.
