So one more rushed MMO to the endless MMO sea...

Post » Mon May 14, 2012 12:40 am

Can't help think that this will just be one more in a long line of badly made, and rushed WoW clones. We more than enough of the standard level based, 3rd person, skills with cool-down, fantasy MMOs out there, why on earth do we need one more?

Im guessing that some would say the story, but lets face no MMO could ever have a good story line since the world in an MMO is always static, so no matter what the players does it is always the same (I know Eve Online is too some degree the exception here). As a player you will never feel special, you are just one more clone of a specific class, most likely forced into one specific power build.

So as a Elder Scrolls fan this is the first in the series I do NOT look forward to.

How come people always assume its going to be a badly made wow Clone, and never a Well made WoW clone. Or even an improved WoW clone. Always assuming the worst :P

It was not rushed obviously and there is absolutely no way anyone can know whether it will be good or not. I will try it and if I don't like it I will cease playing it. Not a major crisis in my life.

You think OP has a point when we know less than 5% about the game.

Awesome.

You're right, its not rushed, just archaic.

Goes into development one year before Skyrim... yet is somehow archaic. Interesting.

I've never been particularly into MMO's for that exact reason.

I can't say right now whether or not I'll even attempt to play it, but I sincerely hope this doesn't derail the TES series as a whole. I'm really looking forward to TES VI on next-gen consoles.

History.....but i am still hopeful. Although as i stated in a previous thread, no player housing? Count me out for that reason alone paying a dime for extras if it turns out to be a F2P game.

What does this have to do with Skyrim? People love the single player I know what youre trying to do, and you're failing. No one wants to play reskinned WoW.

I wouldn't say rushed since it will have 6 years of development behind it but non-originality and not keeping to the style of TES are large negatives against it.

You called the game archaic. A game put into development a year before Skyrim was, which is considered very anti-archaic, is archaic? Because that makes sense. I know what you're trying to do and you're doing it very well; you're raging about a game you need not play, ever, in your entire life. Apparently there are people who want to play this regardless if it's "reskinned" or not. Deal with it. Don't play it.

I'm really looking forward to TESO. From what I've been reading they'll continue with the single player sandbox RPG and produce the MMO. Sounds like a win-win situation. 2013 can't arrive soon enough!

As long as the single player games continue I'll continue to ignore the mmo side and be happy! :)

He's saying, despite having been made around the same time as Skyrim, the game is going to feel archaic, it's going to feel old, this style off MMO, is OLD. WoW was released 8 years ago, but we're still seeing MMO's that look and feel exactly like it.

A lot of people like WoW, and will most likely enjoy this game, but there's also a lot of people that find it to be boring and old.

I think he was saying that it's archaic because of the gameplay mechanics. It uses WoW's combat style and WoW was created a while ago. It's an old, worn out system (according to some). As long as it's not as much of a grind as WoW is, I'll enjoy it. I just hope they're creative enough with leveling and end game to prevent that.

EDIT: What Noah said..

This is truth we are making assumptions of magazine scans and 10 pages of details. Its a little early to call wolf yet.

However I'm a betting man, and I'm betting a lot of these assumptions are going to become fact. Care to bet? ;)

I should have kept rushed out of the headline, it got the point off track. With the Eldar Scrolls we have always have innovation of the game and game play with better and better storylines. But this time we get another standard MMO, with NO indications that we will get some new and innovative MMO features, not even Housing - something that one of the first MMO Ultima Online had. Also as I said earlier there can be no great story line in and MMO because the world cannot change.

I just hope that someone will try to challenge the standard MMO concepts. Since WoW it has all been almost the same, and well knowing that its not Bethesda that is making this game, I was still hoping for some attempt to try something new (or retry something like Ultima Online with housing, skill based characters instead of level based, player made items and shops, etc).

Could I be wrong, sure, will I get my hopes up no

I bet it's going to turn out to be exactly how ZMOnline wants it to be.

I wasn't aware that they gave you an exclusive look at their game design document.

The game was just announced yesterday.
