One Save File - Multiple Characters (Discussion)

I had an idea that I wanted to get some feedback on.

Ever since I played Morrowind, I thought it would be interesting to play as multiple characters on one save file - the idea being that a characters actions don't only affect the world for themself, but for all the characters linked to the one file. Obviously the Elder Scrolls games as presented aren't meant for this, but I think it could be done fairly easily using console commands. But having played Skyrim and remembering this old idea I had, I thought about how it might be done.

An example would be like this:

You start a new save file, play as whatever character you want, and play the main quest (maybe some side quests along the way, whatever happens to fancy you on that playthrough.) You complete the main quest line, and decide that (at least for the moment) you're done with that character. Assuming you bought a house, or utilized one of the "safe" areas, you store the characters entire inventory, jot down their stats and faction affiliations, etc.

Then, you use the console to reset your level and stats, remove all faction affiliations, rerun through the character generation steps, design a new character, console yourself to whatever you desire to be the starting point.

You would now be playing a new character in a world as altered by your previous Dragonborn. You could even take it a step further and use a mod that removes your shouting capabilities (or just roleplay and not use them). If you were to visit key locations from the main quest as your new character, key quest items would be gone, certain NPC's may be dead, etc. You could then, say, play as an Imperial and take part in the Civil War quest line (or a Nord Stormcloak) and affect the world further with your new level one character. Say you finish this character - then store your items, record your stats, and repeat the process to start yet a third character, maybe a member of the Thieves Guild, in a world altered by two previous plays.

I hope this makes sense. Obviously there are some issues, such as your journal being shared across multiple "lives", but since the Skyrim journal is hardly immersive, this wouldn't bother me personally. There may be issues with faction progress if you were to change characters before completing a certain factions' main quest (don't know, haven't tried yet.) But anyway, the core idea is the same. You could play as multiple characters (and if you record their stats, faction affiliations, etc. you could always recreate that character, go to where you stored the inventory and pick up where you left off.)

You could even take this a step further: make a personal mod file that you edit as you go along, making NPC versions of your previous characters that your new character can meet along the way.

So, does this seem feasible? Are there factors I'm not thinking of that might break your game? Has anybody tried this for fun? I know it's a bit of console work for a feature only some people would appreciate, but I'm mostly curious to see if anyone has had similar ideas.
