One small detail that will make Crysis 2 rock!

Post » Tue Aug 03, 2010 6:22 pm

Wouldn't it be just terrific if you could see the (under contruction today) Freedom Tower (or One World Trade Center or WTCN1 or whatever the building which will be contstructed where Twin Towers used to be, is named) in the skyline of New York behind Empire State Building? (for example at this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ejozcdyyFQ8 at about 1:02) And I am saying that because in the year 2023 that Crysis 2 is set, this building would be complete. Or even much more better, wouldn't it be awesome if a mission would include a "visit" to this building? I think that all of you who are reading this thread now may laugh... Even Crytek will laugh if they read it :P But Think about it... It would be a pioneering idea for Crysis 2. I don't know, It's my pesonal opinion. What do you think?

The towers are not being reconstructed though. But a memorial is supposed to be built over there for the towers and for what happened.
But I like your idea ! :-)
I know what you mean and it would be awesome if they included stuff like that just for some extra touch. Maybe Crytek could put the memorial in.

Hmph... it already exudes of american patriotism and stuff like that.
The first crysis was way more neutral ( and not only because of psycho being british ).
Dont get me wrong iam not anti america or something.
But sometimes it pisses me off that i only can play american soldiers or american special units.
Whats wrong with other countries`? Do we all just have tin soldiers in our armies who are not worthy to be in a game?
And what the hell was wrong with Crytek to just copy that "only play the USA" thing.

I would have loved to walk through London or Paris as a setting.
Or multiple locations all over the world.
But New York? And america again?
Its always the same with you devs.. no courage to do something different.
So iam against a memorial in crysis 2 ... its about aliens and not about reminding a terrorist attack.

I don't mean that they are building the Twin Towers again... What they are building is a different skyscraqer, called Freedom Tower or the One World Trade Center... Google it and you will find out what I mean. :)

Yeah I think it would be nice for a game to be in Europe countries... Or a combination of countries with the characteristics of each one! That would be really nice!

I think i remembered seeing portals for cryEngine 3 in some video, they could use those to go between places?

But it would have to make sense and not just be you running through a few random portals the winning and thinking "WTF"

No I think it was just a presentation for Cryengine 3... Crysis 2 won't have portals..

I said i think i saw portals for cryengine 3, not crysis 2 :P

I know that crysis 2 won't have portals unless the allow us to make custom stuff... well, unless they decide to prove me wrong and have portals anyway

@ hyper.aN:

The USA is only the second biggest military force.
The numbero uno goes to lovely china ;-)

I always liked the idea of an EDF ( Earth Defense Force) its at least a try to keep these kinda games out of too much patriotic stuff.

Biggest in amount of men, not in efficiency, that's where the US wins, big time.

For those who want a game set in different places around the world, there are definitely games that have this. Take Deus Ex 3 for example. This game supposedly has environments around the world. The first one brought the player to Paris, Japan, NY, Germany, and others. I think the thing that is key in Crysis 2 is that the environment of NY means a lot to people all over the world. It's an epicenter of culture and trade. People of all different nationalities and races and cultures come to NY giving it it's trademark melting pot feel. Nonetheless, NY is still an emotional icon to American's and having Crysis 2 set in such an environment is meant to evoke strong emotions from the player during the game, giving it an extra layer of depth.

First of all its spelled biggEst.
Second, just because the are the biggEst force in the world(they are not) dosn't mean they have to defend it.

I'm sure it's just a typo. I have difficulty typing on a laptop with a tiny keyboard right now. If I go through my old posts i'm sure i'd find hundreds o mistakes, missing letters ect. Hell, I just made one then.
dud yuo unrdstnd tihs? If you did; you get a cookie, and my point.

Although I agree with the point that most games seem to have the feeling of "it's up to America (and no one else) to save the world!".
And it's always "The Evil Russians". Leave the Russians alone >.<
They're nice people.
I'm not anti-America - i'm just sayin' i'd like to see the "rest of the world" in a game.
For example :
[As far as I know] MW2 only has only non-American/Brtish soldier.
And he got shot in the face pretty quickly. Sadface.

I figured it would be more of a unmanned technology fight.
The Japanese are going to own >.<

@ SJentZ

thats interesting news... how many Chinese Army operations have you seen so far to compare them to the usa?

Only because america makes a huge "show" about their military, doesnt mean that theire more efficent.
In fact america lost more wars then they have won in the past.
And even the high decorated so called special units as the rangers and the delta force have failed a few times in the past ( remember the battle of mogadischu 1993).

I dont want to see a military escalation anyway.. but i think china is a very
serious opponent when it comes to war.
