Online games to play in team?

Post » Tue Aug 28, 2012 12:17 am

Hi, can you suggest online games with teamplay (except MMORPGs and LoL since I already play it)? I don't know all the type of games that fit into this category, so I can't say which type of games I'm looking for.

FPS games are generally the best for online teamplay, if you can find a good clan to join.

PC only though. FPS games svck on the consoles. And avoid the COD series... which is inadequate for competitive teamplay.

Maybe look into Arma 2 or Red Orchestra.

L4D series.
GTA IV has co op missions.
TF2
Kane and Lynch series
Pay Day: The Heist
Army of Two series
Gears of War has a horde mode.

Pretty much all FPS' have at least one team mode.

Tried any Counter Strike games? I can't speak for Global Offensive, as I haven't bought it yet, but 1.6 and Source are really good games.
I've always liked Valve shooters better than most others, the only quirk I have is that you can't manually aim.

Otherwise, games like ArmA II, Team Fortress 2 and Left4Dead 2 are great games.

Left4Dead 2 is a great game to play in a group of 4. And after years of support from Valve, it has a lot of campaigns now, including all those from the original game.

Counter-Strike:Source or Global Offensive is all you need for an FPS fix. You can also play Command And Conquer (I recommend Zero Hour) with friends, on a team, for an RTS fix.

I second Minecraft. Most servers have some form of factions that you can join.

Borderlands, Orcs Must Die 2, Left 4 Dead 1/2, Trine 1/2, and Magicka are some really good ones.

Ooh, I really wish my POS laptop could play Magicka, I have it on Steam :( It looks fun.

Mass Effect 3's co-op mode was pretty entertaining. But I'm saying that as someone who doesn't do many multiplayer shooters, so....

If you're going to be playing on the computer online, why not try getting into an MMORPG such as the recent Guild Wars 2?

Another vote for Tribes: Ascend (or Tribes 2, which is also free) or Team Fortress 2.
