OnLive vs Vita

Will OnLive for iPad debunk the coming success of the Playstation Vita and others like it?
What do you think?

Unlikely. Not going into why because I've done so to often recently. Suffice it to say I don't believe iPads or iPhones will ever displace the handheld market in any significant matter.

Vita will win. But it doesn't matter for me either way because I got my Onlive micro console for free.

Isn't there a monthly subscription?

I don't use Onlive, but I have the console. Sometimes I play demos, sometimes I stare at it intently, waiting for the Onlive to do something.

So in order to play full games, you need a subscription. Or a hammer.

You go over your bandwidth limit, making it very pricey. Vita wins.

niether, why I have a great dislike for digital versions of games that you don't even have installed some where. I dislike not having physical copies and i barely tolerate steam, i would never put money into a digital service that is designed with ways for you to end up having to purchase a game multiple times.

I just don't think that there's enough people who want a dedicated mobile gaming platform. Jmho.

Don't understand the desire to play a game remotely. Wouldn't the dual problems of 1) needing huge bandwidth to stream decent FPS (let alone issues with going over your cap), and 2) playing with latency, make it pretty terrible except for the minority who have "perfect" connections?

Maybe it's because I live in Washington and use Verizon Fi0S, but I never had any huge problems with latency.

bandwidth limit
These still exist? O_O

My internet isn't the best, so OnLive doesnt work (Tried a demo on my PC, couldnt connect.)
I'm pretty sure Vita will be fairly successful. I don't know anybody who has an OnLive console, and I rarely hear any hype about it. Can't say the same for Vita.

The way I'd heard it, they were coming back in some places - as people start using Hulu, Netflix, Steam, and all the millions of other "just stream it!" services, broadband providers discover the downside of having offered "unlimited" bandwidth back when they couldn't imagine someone even using 20 gig in a month.

(And then there's the people who aren't in range of normal sources, and have to use things like satellite or cell service. I recall when WoW:Cataclysm came out with a 6GB pre-patch, and the forums filled with stories of people getting slammed because of overage fees. One guy in Australia, the patch cost him $300AU.)

Fast, wide, and reliable broadband isn't as universally available as many people seem to think it is.

Couldn't they just integrate OnLive into the Vita? :P
