Only done a few Civil War quests so far and.....

I'm liking it more than I like the main quest. I'm in the middle of the MQ and it's pretty much the same old thing with you having some grand destiny and such. But the Civil war quest has some political intrigue and betrayal it seems like. This storyline should have been the focus of the game.

Spoiler
I've held off on returning Ulfric's axe to him, because it initiates the attack on Whiterun, and as far as I've heard it messes up the quests available there.. is there any truth in this? Do I become unable to access jorvasken?

Haven't done any of the war yet but it sounds more appealing to me as well.

The Civil War questline could've been a bit longer, but I definitely enjoyed it more than the main questline.

I was really impressed by how well Bethesda managed to do fairly large-scale battles. Not quite Mount & Blade worthy, but compared to something like the defence of Bruma in Oblivion, it was a huge step forward for the series.

Did anyone else get doubts as to who you should side with? like I thought (especially towards the end) that the Stormcloacks were a little too unforgiving and right-winged. I even asked Ulfric to leave me out of his speach...

Both sides have valid arguments and serious faults. Honestly, I prefer this much more over one side being impossibly good and the other laughably evil.

I agree, a contentious political situation akin to modern real-life conflicts is much more desireable than a pure protagonists vs antagonists senario especially since the MQ is basically good vs evil really. I don't think that you can actually choose to side with the empire, maybe you can. I chose Stormcloacks purely because the Thalmor deceit was so seethrough and Talos worship being banned is just ridiculous in the land of SKYRIM.

Why isn't this thread in spoilers?!?!?!?!

Lot's of stuff being discussed that I haven't done yet and would rather not know about.

And I know I shouldn't read it but by the time I realised what was happening it was too late.......
