ONLY TWO SUIT MODES?

Post » Wed Oct 06, 2010 6:40 pm

Can someone explain to me why armor and cloak are the only two modes in suit 2.0. I think that the four originals (if you dont know them, dont answer my thread) were better than that. If im mistaken please let me know. Off topic but I think their should be a "Classic Mode" in multiplayer. Like regular cry.

Armour
Cloak
Power only
Armour + power
Cloak + power
Tactics only
Armour + tactics
Cloak + tactics
Nothing

And that's the Nanosuit 2. You enable power mode by either holding the jump button, sprinting for a long time, holding the melee button, or doing other action which require power. It's like the suit shortcuts in Crysis, when it comes to power mode. There's just a different method of selecting it.

You can also merge power mode with armour and cloak. Cloaked car kicking? :)

Hiya benchee :)

Here's a great run-down of how the Nanosuit 2 functions in MP: http://www.el33tonline.com/past/2010/8/22/gamescom_2010_crysis_2_multiplayer/
Pressing the jump button once behaves as you would expect – you jump. But if you press and hold the jump button you’ll leap much further into the air than normal, allowing you to clear obstacles with ease and make your way to the top of a structure or building in double-quick time. Also, if you jump towards a ledge and don’t quite make it, you’ll automatically grab onto the ledge and pull yourself up in one motion.

Running at enormous speed is also easily managed by clicking in a stick. Cloaking (going invisible for a time) is achieved with one shoulder button, while armour is activated with the other shoulder button.

Combining all of these powers into a single sequence of actions, and doing it all successfully, is extremely satisfying – perhaps you see a target from the corner of your eye in the near distance, up and over a series of roofs. In no time, you’ll be able to leap up to the same level, cloak out of visibility, sprint over to an advantageous position and unload a barrage of shotgun or machine gun fire into the target’s head, or simply melee the enemy into submission… or even sneak up on your target and snap their neck.

Very fun!

I myself think that the Nanosuit 1 is much better than the Nanosuit 2... Having armour as default mode with the radial to change between 4 modes makes much more sense in a battlefield than "switching to armour" everytime a bullet flies your way.

Insinuating that Armor mode in C2 functions the same as in C1. From what I've heard/read, you're already pretty resilient by default and Armor mode gives you invincibility and additional upper body strength all the while rapidly draining your suit power (power mode gives you additional lower body strength).

Still miss the Nanosuit 1 all of a sudden.... but that doesn't mean, I won't enjoy testing Nanosuit 2. :)

So as a translation, what I really hear is how annoyed im going to get having to spam the Armour Mode whenever a shot is fired my way, when it should be activated by default and not drain energy when its idle. :|

Now that's just dis-concerning, they just made us too vulnerable now. It's going to be a very tough fight with these kind of settings. We just need a classic controls setting to be safe. (if only)

I'll see if I can simplify things further: Armor mode in Crysis is a default suit mode that reduces damage by draining suit power. In Crysis 2, you're still resilient enough to take a hit by default (so you won't need to switch to armor mode whenever you're shot at) and Armor Mode is now a "juggernaut mode" that temporarily gives you invincibility and increased upper body strength so you can combat heavy-hitting opponents head on. This revision also eliminates the design flaw in Crysis 1 that made your suit powers useless in heated combat because getting hit would deplete your suit energy.

In the 3D video floating around here somewhere it showed power mode in the hud beneath the energy bar and also in one of the pictures. has it changed from 2 to 3?

Yes, armor, power (which is speed and strength in one) and stealth.

It was also on the latest batch of pc screenshots.

Crysis 2 has always had 3 modes, the pre-alpha had it. ;)

Power Mode isn't necessarily Speed and strength mode combined. The best way to put it would be "lower body strength" as it allows you to run faster and/or jump higher. Upper body strength is a part of Armor mode.

wait you mention tactics, is that a suit module or just using stealth kills or something?

Tactics is a suit mode, not a module. It allows the player to have thermal vision, along with some other crap to enhance visibility.
