Open beta invite is insulting

I know having people "sign up" for beta testing provides Bethesda with valuable marketing information they can use themselves and sell to ad agencies, but at least don't have me go through multiple pages and have a meter telling me how good my chances are of getting to play the beta.

Having Sony reveal during the PS4 conference that they would be getting exclusive early beta access was bad enough, but I'm not going to log in for 3 hours to what's not going to be an enjoyable experience at all just to get another insult in the form of a damn monkey pet that no one cares about. You should hire people to do this sort of mundane and boring work, not offer this joke 3 hour taste of lag. Having to download what is probably 10+ GB to sit in a laggy game while you purposely bring the servers down repeatedly is greatly offending to anyone who waste their time filling out your pointless and lengthy beta entry forms.

My interest in this game plummeted the second I learned this had tab-targeting and is really just another reskinned WoW game anyway (as if it would ever be anything else....), take me off any mailing lists of any kind please, thank you.

EDIT* I noticed my title is wrong. It's not "open test", it's just a 3 hour stress test..sounds like even more of a waste of everyone's time.

They would have a disclosure that you agree to and according to what is in that disclosure they can use your information as they like. I wonder what is in their agreement for beta sign up.

Can you post a link to what you're talking about? The only official beta application I know of is here - https://www.elderscrollsonline.com/en/beta

That's a little sour graqes my friend. I would just put the game on the back burner of your mind. Beta ruins your launch day fun anyhow.

you are mistaken. this is not insulting. a beta test is used to test stuff. if your're referring specifically to a stress test, then that beta test was for a stress test. the beta test is not there to entertain you. while i don't know whether zenimax is selling your information to ad agencies, i am pretty certain there are other, probably slightly less tin-foily, reasons for them to collect that information.

also, i don't think this is where you go to ask them to take you off their mailing list.

If you think helping ZOS improve their game is a waste of time then you shouldn't bother signing up for the beta in the first place. Also if you fully read the email you get you'd know its not at all just a "waste" of time, had you understand the email I guarantee you wouldn't be complaining.

I may have misunderstood the intent of this thread. Discussing any aspects of the beta, if you've been accepted, is breaking the NDA. On acceptance, you would be given a link to the beta forums to discuss your issues. This is not the place to discuss any aspects of the beta, in accordance with the NDA.

If you weren't contacted through official means, or suspect you may have been the target of a phishing attack, you'll want to get in touch with our community managers.
