Opinion Polls - E3, ESO and Consoles

It's lonely at the top, huh? PC master race unite!

I know what you mean though, we have all this amazing hardware and rarely anything to challenge or make good use of it.

As a PC gamer, I find it sickening how many (not the majority but enough) are acting like children over the reveal. Besides a later release date (which could very well mean more time to enjoy the beta cost-free), their is really little way the console versions can hold the PC back. I see everybody saying the megaservers aren't shared which instantly tells us that the PC won't need to wait for Microsoft and Sony to sync updates.

Considering how much consoles have proved they can do with lesser hardware in the past (mostly due to less external task juggling), and the fact that devs like to make extra sure games run smooth with specific console hardware, it would be very far down the line before consoles would hurt the future of the game thereafter.

Yeah i understand that feeling, indi games are the only sunshine right know, they bring back some complexity into gaming. But its clear most gamers knowadays cant even read questlogs anymore or maybe they dont understand them.

Im so sick of this games " Follow the magical Line on the ground".

Can't vote. I originally planned to play it on the PC, but now I plan on playing it on the PS4.

The fact that people get mad over more people getting to enjoy something makes me real sad.

Think about it: ZeniO didn't decide to port this game today, or earlier this year. They knew about the new consoles long before we did, likely had dev kits for them for at least a year, and have been building with them in mind since near the beginning. The console version is likely going to be slightly different than the PC version, but it won't suddenly retroactively become FarmVille just because you can play it on your TV.

I need more information about what the Xbox One and PS4 can handle and the specs of those next gen consoles to decide if this might be a good or bad move. But basically if they didn't think they would be successful doing this they would not do it. If they thought doing it would screw one entire section of fans, I don't believe they would do it. And we can't base our opinions upon anything up until this point because the next gen consoles are a huge step up in the console capabilities.

Wait and see is all we can do. Watch it pan out or crash and burn. I've a feeling this is only the first of many MMOs for all platforms and the wave of gaming future.

Then again, I could be wrong. It's a wait and see thing to me. Nothing to judge it by until the new consoles release. Separate servers however give me greater hope.

I don't see why somebody would play ESO on a console if they have the option for PC; especially for an MMO. IMO the PC always has way more options when it comes to gaming. I guess it could be cheaper just to buy a console if you can't afford a good PC though.

Anyway, looking in to the future if this is a good decsision really depends on how console users react to the game. I'm positive the PC version will be fine speaking about sales, but I'm afraid consoles like X-One will only have a few thousand players. I could be wrong though, it may be a good thing overall and create a new fanbase. If the release date is due to it being ported to consoles I don't think that was a good call by ZeniMax, I doubt that was the reason though.

I remember Matt speaking of tablets last year as well, and there, some multiplayer console game on E3 already have limited tablet support.

We probably wont get much of this poll tho, console players have been shunned here over a year, so they have no representation here

Wow it really did anger the "PC gamers". Haha. I mean I consider myself both really, but to go on and on and turn something like this so negative? Come on now. Its not going to hurt anything. More people will be able to play, servers absolutely will not be 100% merged (That just cant happen. PC would have a huge advantage.) Its not like CoD on the Wii. With what the new consoles are running on the difference between PC and console versions should not be that different. I just don't see the uproar. Console ESO isn't for you? Then fine. Thats actually how I'm feeling at the moment, but drop it there. I don't see how it's going to effect my PC ESO experience and "hurt ESO." Thats just silly.

I had to vote that it was good marketing... it will help ESO be more 'succesful' in the short term. Whether the damage done - or if there is damage done - will effect the long term shall be seen.

I'm not mad that this game is available for more people who plan to play this on console.

But its obvious that TESO's release is delayed due to this decision. And it will affect bugfixes and updates for sure if this game will support crossplatform. Yes ... I'm p*ssed.

I, for one, welcome our console-playing overlords. ;)

But seriously, It'll be good to have more people on here at least to debate with. Some fresh meat for the grinder, so to speak! Let's not chase them away just yet!

This makes me much less excited. I need to know how this game being on consoles is going to limit the pc version. The graphics and lighting in the E3 trailor look like they been downscaled from previous versions. They could have made it on an older computer but the E3 trailor is huge who wouldn't they use the best of the best to show off?

Still the end of Guild Wars 1, i'm waiting for ESO, i hope it like THE MMORPG, the "Wow Killer", with great gameply, enjoyable content, smart community, great event and... Frack !! An Elder Scrolls Online, you N'Wah !!

Today, i'm feeling like a young married, who discoverd that his wife in reality, is a man... I'm SO disappointed !!! I dont known the words to say it in english ! In french, we said : cocu (Cuckold).

And it is a small word for saying all the pain that i have !!
I play Morrowind from 2003, and i'm still playing ! I've spend many hours on Skyrim. When i heard "Call of magic" from jeremy Soule, when i see the Morrowind title screen, i think : i coming back home !!

I've nothing against ps4 or xbox players, many friends of mine are cross platform, and i still plan for buying a console...

But... not for an RPG, or an MMo !

Each time i play Skyrim, i wonder if Lydia was a real player, and not this tank-assault-[censored] !! I wonder to play with friend, starting to explore freaking dungeons together, like a team, with complex gameplay and not a [censored] gameplay like "trigger left heal, trigger right bump, trigger left heal, trigger right bump, trigger left heal, trigger right bump, trigger left heal, trigger right bump" (no offense guy, its a caricature, i dont mean that console player are [censored]... or did i ? )

And so... you broke my hopes...

Anyway... i will buy the game, i will play the game, i expect i will take pleasure... But Bethesda put me an arrow in the knee heart !

I 've a strange smell in the mouth, like steel, this is the taste of trahison !

I've played morrowind, i modded Morrowind. This game is the most disgraceful I have ever seen. But i just love it.

So come skyrim. Less disgracefull, better finished, but anyway full of bugs, (Bethesda's touch ?) . After many patch and mods he become a wonderull pal...
I ve wainting for ESO, for a long time ! I dont care if it come in 2014 or 2015 ! i can wait, i can be patient... if the game is good as i excpect...Now, i do not expect anything from him...just it will be not annoying and disgracefull.

If Console player will have theirs own server... Well... i will reconsider. But now, its cold.

Would "you can play it on these other two consoles which have not yet been announced, which you know nothing about, and which you're not even supposed to know exist" have been better?

Yes, I know you can hook a PC up to a TV. Allow me a little poetic leeway.

Lowering expectations for console-users. I wouldn't be surprised if it was from a build on the PS4 dev kit, or a PC with equivalent specs. That giant's texture was VERY console.

I don't see anyone freaking out because there will be more people playing, though. I think it's great nobody will be forced to buy a specific gaming hardware to enjoy ESO. But the concerns mainly revolve about possible effects for PC and Mac players, which there have been plenty of in the past - mainly annoying exclusivity deals with MS and Sony, and possibly compromised game mechanics / visuals / controls to accomodate for specific console restrictions. With an exclusivity deal for the beta already mentioned, I think it's a reasonable assumption that this announcement will not benefit PC and Mac players in the long run.

What I'd like them to do now is to address those concerns immediately during E3. ESO has a slot on GameTrailers TV in about 90 minutes, and I'm curious if they have Sage or Firor there for a few statements.

Dumb question but, do we have to watch that on Spike TV or do they stream it on their site?

Also, I don't think the Sony exclusive beta has anything to do with the PC beta. The PC beta has already begun and the Sony exclusivity seems to just be because XBOX isn't releasing as early, or am I wrong?

EDIT: NM I'm wrong.

I don't have a problem with console people playing the game. Sure,if its nice,why shouldn't they ?

For me the sad thing is that from a vague 2013 the release date moved to Spring 2014. I was expecting to be playing it sooner.

But because they wouldn't speak the date earlier I even made the mistake to not buy games I'd like to buy since February, because I waited for TESO's release. SINCE EARLY 2013. BECAUSE YOU JUST TOLD US "2013".

And now I've already lost 6 months without playing games that I wanted to play because I didn't wanted to get invested to them so I can have time for TESO,and Bethesda tells me that I'll have to wait ONE MORE YEAR. Great.

I spent 6 months not playing cool games for nothing. I don't care any more. I'm going to buy other mmos and invest on them, and I'll stop following the news on TESO,and perhaps after its released and randomly I happen to fall on a review of the game in some site,I might think of getting it,if the new games I'll be playing haven't get me too excited and in love with them to leave them for another game.

Well done guys. At least you could tell us "2014" from the beggining instead of "2013" to not keep us waiting all these months for nothing. That's so Duke Nukem Forever!!!

If it was just about more people getting to play the game, I'd agree with you. But there's much more to it than that.

Even considering that the three systems (PC, PS4, XBone) will have separate servers, it's still one development team. So things that they do for one system will affect the others, even if indirectly, because it's the same people on the same project. Something like a UI is relatively simple, but general difficulty and risk:reward would be much harder to keep balanced by one group of people if all three systems handled it differently. Something that may be easy to do on PC, but hard on a console due to the controls, for instance, has to be balanced somehow... so either they split development (thereby having fewer resources for each platform), or the homogenize it (thereby weakening the presentation on some systems to account for others).

And the fact that they're already dealing with exclusives in the game is very damning, IMO. I mean, yeah, up until now, the game was "PC exclusive", but that one system got everything. So you only needed to have one system and one game to get it all. But now we'll have exclusives between systems. The XBone will get exclusives, the PS4 will get exclusives, maybe the PC will get exclusives... so a person would have to buy 3 systems and 3 games if the things they want happen to become exclusives on different systems. Suddenly, an already-expensive gaming genre (MMOs) becomes much more expensive, and it will split players and increase development costs.

So it is more than simply having more people able to play the game.

* Substitute PC with PC/Mac above.

"We're considering/planning for next gen consoles as well." would suffice, IMO. It's not like it was a secret that next gen consoles were coming, since even during Skyrim's pre-release they talked about how they were considering waiting for it, but decided not to because it was still a couple years away.

Does this mean there will also be a load screen between zones?

Ugh. Its bad enough there is no real world pvp and no real raiding, and it seems like console was the culprit for that.

Should stream here: http://www.gametrailers.com/netstorage/e3/live.html

As for beta exclusivity, we really don't know at the moment. That's one thing I want them to clear up ASAP.
