Opinion on E3?

Post » Mon Sep 29, 2008 5:12 am

What was your opinion on E3 this year? Was it everything you wanted it to be or do you think there could have been more? I think it was good saw lots of stuff I wanted to see, maybe some Crysis 2 PC graphics would have been very kind of Crytek.

I thought it was awesome. The only thing I was sad about was valve's announcment... a big anti climix. Do you know why my avatar is different to yours by the way? I haven't worked it out!

Front of the head= your personal posts
Back of the head= community responses

Anyway E3 this year has been only okay. While I loved the new footage of Crysis 2, especially the 3D trailer (the music is much better than the other vids), the new Codename: Kingdoms announcement was really a buzz kill for me. So I'm happy, but I'm also unhappy. :(

pretty insane i thought. graphics were sweet, lighting was incredible, shadows were the best dynamic shadows i've ever seen, guns look great, destructibility. Just looked brilliant. Cevat explained it well too. Think it was a big success

The only downer was no announcement from Sony about a Syphon Filter title being either in the works or coming out. :'(

As a PC gamer it wasn't exciting. I'm actually surprised they are releasing Metal Gear Solid: Rising on PC. I think the new 3DS has potential if 3d works. Not too many games really caught my attention, and I am upset they didn't show any crysis 2 PC in action.

I also really hate where the industry is going with the whole "motion" gaming thing. Sure its innovative, but it doesn't look too fun.

This E3 didn't really stick with me as much as some in the past did. I think it was because most of the big 3's conferences were half about motion control and showing examples of how trained actors....err real people could utilize "this feature," or that voice command. When the games did come around, mostly during EA and Activisions conferences, i found myself much more entertained =)

It's a pretty big untapped (bar by the Wii) market though; it's also much more intuitive than a gamepad or keyboard/mouse combo for people who aren't too used to gaming.

I found the motion controller for the PS3 a bit crap, but I have to experience it myself, and then judge it.

They're simply hyping up those who don't play gaming, like Ruan said. I think if they're able to get casual or non gamers into this, it's a profit for both the companies.

E3 this year was pretty bangin'. Lots of games I've been lookin' forward to that were covered.

Star Wars The Old Republic
Star Wars The Force Unleashed II
Crysis 2
The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings
Starcraft II
Deus Ex: Human Revolution
Batman: Arkham Asylum II
Bodycount
Brink
etc, etc.

There a couple more, but I think you get the picture.

Isn't E3 pretty console dominant conference? Sure there are pc games too, but quite a of those are multiplatform. Anyway, as far as games go I spotted several must haves. Going to be a busy year.
