My opinion of the fortify restoration glitch

Skeleton Key in Oblivion is same thing in Skyrim. You can unlock any door that DOESN'T require a key.
And where do you find a skeleton key in Skyrim without being a thief? Once again it proves that Rest. potions are here to help ALL players. Not only thiefs and assassins.

I hope it doesn't get patched. There's really no other way on the console to get to be a God. Sure you can crank the game down to novice, but by all accounts you can still be killed (especially by the environment). I like whirlwind sprinting across the map, falling off a huge mountain, and not spending 40 seconds waiting to play again and go back to a previous save because I died. I want to keep going, I want to feel like there's nothing around me that I can't just push aside and ignore because I'm just that strong.

And come on.....storm call+call dragon at the same time? The ability to destroy any encampment packed with enemies without ever lifting a finger beyond that point. Spamming elemental fury to cut whole swaths of draugr to meat ribbons without break.

Apparently a lot of players stop around level 50 as they state that enemies do NOT level up anymore? I'm at level 76 and I can tell you that they do level up. Not even in force but also in numbers. Caves full of Shadowmaster Falmers. Arch necromancers. Death Overlord Draugr. Death Lord is usually tough but try the Overlords. And 8 together in the final room mixed with other draugrs. Without good weapons it's not possible to go further. I continue because I still have a lot of caves, dungeons to explore. Also more personal quests from people around me to do.

As the op said most players find the glitch fun for a while then quickly get bored. I can play like that for a while but then I get bored as the combat and shouts etc are very shallow and basic.

It should be kept in as you enjoy using it and there are a heckuva lot more crucial things in the game for Bethesda to spend time working on rather than taking out a glitch that's up to the individual to use or not.

Never even knew of this glitch! :o

Got something new to try out later I guess haha!

As for the glitch discussion over whether it's right or not, what does it matter, it's not like me making a 20,000,000dmg sword is going to hurt your games.
Let people do what they will, I find that people find their own limits with time, and after some more time feel comfortable enough to stretch those limits a bit more.

Also, depending on what mods you run, there are quite a few deadly enemies out there, so I'm happy with carrying an uber-dagger that will only get pulled in dire circumstances. Better than dying and reloading anyway, so immersion breaking.

Useful to make enchantments for followers such as rediculous sneak and health.

It’s up to the player on how strong they want to become. If you think your weapon becomes too powerful, just shelf it and get a less powerful one. Same with armor or anything else. I made a potion worth $18,000; it now sits on a shelf and my 500 damage sword is on a weapons plaque. Just because you go up in power doesn’t mean you can’t come down.

Having variables set at extreme values that the developers didn't anticipate COULD break your game in some manner, so maybe settle for semi-godlike stats instead.

Personally, I don't like the glitch, it feels cheap. However, we need glitches like this that make the game easier for those who want it.

I remember back when if you wanted an easier game, you had to go elsewhere. Go try playing Daggerfall or Morrowind.

Is it really a glitch? Or did Bethesda intend it to be that way?

Given that exploiting it for more than a couple of loops WILL crash the game clearly not intended feature. Oblivion had a similar exploit early on but it was fixed and rendered impossible

I only use the Fortify Resto Glitch in order to enchant an uber powerful Fortify Carry Weight enchant. I'm sick and tired of having to haul [censored] back to my house to dump it. Especially Dragon Bone, Dragon Scales and Hides/Leather. I'm a bit OCD about collecting crafting resources.

Wow, I completely misunderstood this entire thread. I thought we were talking about the necromage/vampire glitch. I've never heard of this fortify restoration glitch, can someone enlighten me?

Nvm, googled it. Sounds extremely broken.

I never heard of it either (who the hell figures out these things anyway?!) but I had to try it and see. And yep, ended up with items that were way too overpowered and I could see how it would make the game too easy, even on hard. Well, I wouldn't use it to the extreme like that, but it might be useful to create items that are just a little bit more powerful than the most powerful vanilla items in the game. Also I would use it on a ring for example, to attach a fortify alchemy enchant so I didn't have to make a full set of armour of fortify alchemy. It would be more convenient on a single, light and easy to carry ring.

I did it with my high level character that was pretty much done with every single quest already anyway. Quite fun to have indestructible Dead Thralls and followers. Also, by that point in my character's life he is supposed to be Superman.

The one thing I have not heard of, though, is how to speed up walking or decrease the recharge time on a shout. Did you guys make those two up? :P. I will have to check the wiki later.

While working on my perk overhaul mod I discovered that, unlike Fortify potions for the other magic schools, the Fortify Restoration potion is not limited to spells of that school, but rather works on all such effects. As all Fortify effects fall under Restoration, regardless of source, the potions are working on items they have no business affecting.

As such, it's not a glitch but rather an oversight, albeit a pretty big one since overinflated effects can crash the game when it tries to use them in calculations.
