My opinion on the GAH

So, ever since the GAH system was introduced, I felt pretty meh, about it. But I did some thinking and I thought I would share what I came up with. Now I'm no writer, so this shouldn't be very long.

Okay, I played LOTRO for about four years on the server Windfola, and I had joined a very friendly kinship (that is, guild) who ran weekly events and such and had a system in place to help newcomers get situated in the game, the more experienced members would provide gold and starting equipment for the newbies. I really liked this system because it would help the new players out and it would give the older players a chance to get involved with the new players.

Now enough about LOTRO on to ESO!

In ESO, with the GAH system, you'll have people going in and out of guilds buying items and such. Then you have merchant guilds, who trade items with people and normal guilds having a GAH for it's members, now it seems to me like this sort of system will make guilds not a place to have friends and help them out, but a place to buy and sell thing to each other, this means the sense of charity will be gone, people will find a useless low-level item and, rather than just giving it away to a guild-member he'll just sell it.

Now the new guild member has to but the item with the little gold he has, and sell other thing to his guild members, so now the feeling of friendship and helping each other out is gone and guilds are just a place to sell stuff to people.

So, I thought I would just point that out, maybe I don't need to worry, maybe there are things that I haven't considered. But that's why I'm posting this, to get feedback. So please, try to be nice, and just tell me what you think about this.

Thanks for reading!

AFAIK this isn't an AH (Auction House) system at all. You set the price of your wares, rather than people bidding on them, right? Don't think the terms AH or GAH apply.

Now, why would this system prevent anybody from giving stuff away? I don't understand the reasoning at all  I think guildies help guildies with gear, money, mounts etc in every RPG; they do it even though they have the option of selling that gear; why would that be different in ESO?

Remember that a player can belong to up to 5 guilds, btw... so they are most likely going to belong to one or more non-merchant (leveling, raiding, pvp, rp, whatever) guilds as well as a merchant guild.
