Option Choices not Holding Up

Post » Fri Nov 16, 2012 8:28 am

I made two options changes...one to enable subtitles and the other to swap the "w" key with the RMB. I made it to the sewer, created a save game and quit. When i came back later, both options had returned to default.

Perhaps I should also mention that Steam and all of my games are installed on drive D:, away from those pesky Program Files folders.

Some people have been having this problem. Haven't seen a fix mentioned yet. Maybe try going into offline/online mode in Steam.

Perhaps there is a .ini file where the settings are stored that you could set to 'read only'? As a temporary solution.

Set it to read only after making the changes so it can't be re-written to default...not a bad idea povu! :D

Since I've been playing offline, I'll also try going online.

Thanks to the both of you.

Interesting. If you keep Steam online, the changes hold. If you take it offline they go back to default. That's a ?feature? I don't particularly care for.

The game has about 30 config files, located in both the Steam and My Documents folders. It's odd that both folders are read only, but the files are read/write. Anyway, I tried one named DishonoredInput and it didn't help. The problem isn't bad enough to go through the tedium of messing with all of those files, so I'll just go with playing with Steam online for now.

It's got something to do with cloud saving, probably. Maybe just another way to annoy the pirates.

Thanks Oof. I appreciate the tip.

Do you happen to be in offline mode? It sounds like it might be a Steam cloud related issue.

Yep, going online got it working. Oof suggested giving it a try. This whole cloud thing really darkens my day.

? I got sunshine, on a cloudy day ?
