Optional PVP

Please make PVP Optional to be turned on/off with /pvp for players who aren't into Player vs Player like myself
I would play Elder Scrolls Online just for the Exploring and RPG part of the game

Easy don't go to the PVP area, there will be NO world PVP in TES so this will not be a worry for you XD

Edit: Well i guess there is "world PVP" but you wont get ganked in leveling areas as factions are locked in there own land so they can come and gank you.

If anything I would join in on PVP when at the level cap but while leveling I would stay away from PVP

I will be in PvP as soon as I can, however obviously the higher your level the more effective you are going to be in Cyrodiil. But like someone already mentioned if you absolutely hate PvP and want nothing to do with it, just stay out of Cyrodiil and you will never have to deal with it.

Edit: One thing I thought I should mention is that the PvP will be very similar to a game I subscribed to for about 5 years, Dark Age of Camelot. When I first joined that game I was like the OP I wanted nothing to do with the "candy ass" PvP that was not open world like I was used to from my years playing Ultima Online. However once I tried it after I reached level cap I found it to be the most fun part of the game and in many ways the PvP aspect of DAoC was much better then it was in UO.

You can find out more about what PvP will be like by looking at this post I made a while back talking about my days in DAoC playing that wonderful RvR combat: http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1435172-elder-scrolls-raidshere-is-what-you-can-expect/

Are Ultima Online servers still up and are they pay to play or free to play
My first experience to PVP was on World of Warcraft back in 2004 when i first started playing I didn't know what PVP was (prior to WoW i only played console rpgs) and started on the server it randomly tossed me onto which was a PVP one, didn't take long to catch on to why I was getting ganked by Level 60s when I entered one of the level 25+ zones

UO servers are still up and running, not sure how many though. Also UO has changed since I played it because EA bought out the original developer Origin Systems, and shortly after EA got the rights to UO they created a duplicate world called Trammel, only in Trammel you could not attack players and it was promptly named the "carebear world of UO". So the PvP I experienced in UO is no longer there because mostly everyone now plays in Trammel, and even finding someone to PvP with in the old world of Feluca is pretty much impossible. All it does for me now if I enter UO is make me hate EA even more then I already do....

World pvp is only open for cydoriil.
This fits roleplay more. I mean not being able to attack enemy in middle of cyrodiil?. What kind of logic you can put into this?.
Do not worry , you will have a big map to explore :).

After finishing starting quests, levelling a bit and checking capitals of skyrim. Cyrodiil is the first place i will visit.

Is it free to play or still pay to play?
And I'm not fond of EA either

It looks like the best you can get for free is a 14 day free trial. UO has been up and running since the late 90's so there is no need for them to ever go free to play because the game has enough subscribers to pay for its small internet footprint and they long ago stopped adding new content as far as I can tell....anyway just go check out UO.com and see for yourself :)

Where would you suggest looking for a copy of UO at?

Yeah not to mention he could have just looked all those questions up himself with a google search....anyway back to the optional PvP topic.

One thing I think will make PvP more accessable to all players, even those who think they don't like it is the fact that every player will have abilities that work in synergy with other players abilities. You will learn how to use those synergies against mobs in PvE combat, and as you use things like these skill synergies you gain finesse points which over time will allow you to use your Ultimate ability that you have currently slotted, and also when you use that Ultimate ability that again adds to your finesse score, which starts you back onto the path to be able to use it again.

WHat I think this does is it makes all battles far more tactical and strategic compared to the standard MMO combat of pull one mob kill it, pull another...instead when you enter a room full of mobs they immediately start to use all of their synergies against you and your group, all at the same time and none of them just standing out of your agro distance that have no idea you are there.

To completely understand these skill synergies I recommend watching this interview: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ayT_9USmIbg&list=PL7B176F7C51D0244B

How will Player bounties work, if someone stole from an npc shop would other players be able to kill that player and get septims in exchange for looting that players head and turning it over to a town or city guard for a reward?

There is no player bounty announced yet, we don't know if they have it, probably not. Can't have player bounty without the faction zones being accessible to everyone.

Doubtful on player bounties existing (and most likely to almost certain ie 100% no player bounties in the pve areas).

Don't you think it's a good idea though?
It could work out well if it's planned out well enough

Naw, open to being exploited, plus who wants to be hunted and ganked when you don't want pvp in your questing areas.

I never said anything about it being turned on in neutral areas....

if you entered another factions area and stole from a npc shop players from that faction could be alerted and hunt you down

that response was my fault for not adding enough detail to the idea

Nyaa, they'll be hunting you down anyway, won't take you stealing a sweetroll off their local baker to get them in the mood.

hunting you down when they wouldn't know you were in their territory before hand?
doubt that especially if you are playing a stealth based character
There are multiple possible ways Bethesda could use this idea

If you're stealthed and get caught stealing a sweetroll then you deserve to die, yes.

Why are you saying sweetroll anyway.... who in their right mind would steal food in an online game
I'd go after a good looking sword or piece of armor
Would you try enter hostile territory and steal a sweetroll to fight with?
