Ore Vein Doesn't Work

Post » Thu May 24, 2012 2:09 am

While creating my mod I discovered that the ore vein that I parked the entrance next to is broken. It's not my mod but actually within Skyrim itself.

This ore vein is almost due North of Sleeping Tree Camp giant's camp. You head North and go around West, or to the left, of the mountain and go up the snow path to the very top at the right.

Too bad I didn't find out about this bug until after I spent so many hours working on the entrance to my mod :/

Cheers!

Or bugs.

Also, did you confirm that the ore node is broken in an unmodified version of the game?

Looks like the moderators are doing their job and moved the thread...I like that

Yes I did confirm that it is a Skyrim issue as my son doesn't yet have my mod and his ore vein on that mountain is broken as well.

There's a bug forum? Ugh!

It could be something simple like the ore node is too close to the ground or something for you to activate. You might try just moving the vein a bit, I mean, you put your cave/mine there 'cause of the vein, you're also allowed to edit the terrain around it (including adding/removing ore)

I think it's more than that claude

I moved the vein over a bit and even created a new ore vein over the top of the broken vein and my new ore doesn't work.

So it is in the actual coding or something for that particular area that doesn't allow mining of ore. Maybe they forgot to delete it before release or something I don't know....it is out of the way quite a bit.

Here's an image where the vein is and where you go to get there:

if a new vein doesn't work, then it's out of my league. Hopefully someone else can come along and help out.

There are a few like that. Please report it in the https://unofficialskyrimpatch.16bugs.com/projects/7078/bugs and we'll look into it. Not the one you created, but the vanilla one that isn't working.

I've run into a few of these myself, and even using 'tcl' and going into the ground didn't enable mining of them. Position and angle didn't matter, either.

For whatever it's worth: there appears to be a setup for 'dummy' veins in the CK, so they might have accidentally planted the wrong version. I'll have to look again, as I get rather annoyed when, after 15-20 minutes of cliff-hopping, I find an obscure vein only to discover I can't actually mine it.

According to the unofficial bug tracker it's a problem in the gold ore 02 nif where Havok hasn't been applied. So people should not use "MineOreGold02" or any of the variations of it.
