I am currently looking for some new RPG's for either the Xbox 360 of the PS3 and I'd like some suggestions.

I prefer an open-world medieval/fantasy RPG where you have lots of freedom. Go anywhere you want, be whoever you want to be sort of thing. And have hubs, like towns and cities to buy/sell items and interact with NPC's and whatnot. I also like lots of customization, and prefer their to be horseback riding, etc.

Please give me some suggestions and describe the game for me. If you want, compare it to Skyrim or Oblivion because those are the two I am most familiar with. Thank you.

Dragon's Dogma. It doesn't have horseback riding, but it does have the ability to grab onto enemies during combat. It's not as interactive as the TES games, but it certainly is an open world RPG. You can customize quite a bit, but it won't be as deep as the TES games.

Not really sure how to compare a game to something that it only has a genre in common with. There's also Kingdoms of Amular, but that game is more like a single player MMO.

Dragon's Dogma was horrid when I played it. The customization was good and the idea of a party was decent, but I hated the game. It never really pulled me in.

I have played Dragon's Dogma, Dark Souls (hated that too), Fable I, II, and III, as well as Oblivion and Skyrim.

Kingdoms of Amular has a demo I did not find enjoyable. Felt like a fixed Fable.

I've heard good things about Two Worlds Two.

I have to Ledgend, and I got a video loading up now, but internet is being slow. I think you can drive boats and ride horses...

Game of Thrones RPG is a good and underrated game. It's not very expansive in terms of Skyrim and Oblivion, which are more or less open world hiking sims, but the storyline and armour options are great, plus it does use a more classical class system for the game.

There aren't many games like that, there are new fallouts that are that but obviously those aren't medieval fantasy, you can try, mount and blade, it's open world, but it is mixed heavly with strategy game, and there aren't that many interactions, with npc.

There is also old M&M series and Ultima but those are only on computer, but they should run easily on any computer and are pretty cheap to get from GOG ,also another pc only open world slighly more modern is gothic series.

Two worlds series is also an open world rpg and the second one is on ps3 .

Could try the Witcher series if you're willing to compromise character customization and open world for a great story and heavy play style customization. The 3rd one coming out here soon will be open world, though I haven't been following it nearly as closely as most people on this forum.

I've also never actually played the Witcher series. I will be picking it up on GoG when it goes on sale sometime.

I like Fallout, but that's not what I am looking for. Mount and Blade is to heavy to run on my PC. Arcania: Gothic 4 is actually on console and I was looking at it, not sure if I like it.

The Witcher actually DOES look pretty awesome, but I need to check it out some more. Biggest thing though is open-world and The Witcher is not open-world... so I'm kind of iffy.

There's really not a lot of those that aren't hack/slash/action games (Kingdom's of Amalur, Dragon's Dogma, ____ Souls, etc).

Pretty sure Demon's Souls wasn't open world. Not sure about Dark Souls since I haven't played it.

Dark souls is sort of pseudo -open world

Divinity 2: Dragon Knight Saga. Who needs horses when you getz to be a dragunnz? More linear than ES, no guilds or the like, but a fair few side quests with choices. It's a fun little romp with great VA and music.

With the success you'd think there'd be more open-world RPG's wouldn't you?

I am downloading The Witcher 2... will play Dark Souls until then... might as well get my wasted $20 out of that pile of crap.
