Other MMO's with Huge Battles

Post » Sun Mar 24, 2013 8:39 am

I want to know more about how TESO combat and battles will be.

First off, will it be real-time? As in, press X to attack and Y to block (just examples) or will it be auto-attack crap where you sit back and spam skills all day. I find the auto-attack things take away player skill, whereas being able to actually defend when you want and attack at the right time will let the skill of the player really come out.

Second, what other MMO games currently available have large battles like TESO will have? I want to watch a video on what large-scale PvP looks like.

There is no autoattack - you left click to swing your weapon, right click to block. Hold left click for a power attack, block + left click for a bash, so on and so forth. You can double tap a direction key (w, a, s, or d) to perform a roll-dodge to avoid enemy attacks.

You'll have a hotbar with a small selection of skills (5-6 skills, we're still arguing about how to interpret the actual number since no hard info is available), and these skills will cast with the 1-6 number keys. They have no cooldown, but spamming them will quickly drain your magicka/stamina bars.

The only other game with large scale battles like this that I know of is dark age of camelot (which is a game that most of TESO's developers have worked on, it seems)

Combat sounds great.

Will check out Dark Age of Camelot.

Any other games?

Warhammer Online..used to be quite laggy back in the days but lately hasn't been much of a problem..for me at least..to handle 100+ in a keep attack..
recent video youtube keywords : warhammer online 2013

What was that one game where it was fantasy, but the setting reminded me of Morrowind?

It had a huge battle.

Probably Darkfall. Dark Elves, giant mushrooms, massive FFA PvP, sieges, naval battles, etc. Was originally designed to be like Morrowind but an MMO.

If you want an idea how the combat will be, try Tera, or RaiderZ.

Tera + Dark_Age_of_Camelot (+ Elder Scrolls? We hope)

Are there any massive multiplayer games that re-enact historical war? Like Romans, or Medieval period type of stuff?

Neverwinter will be a better adaptation IMO.
