I'm over it

I had great hopes for this game. I was actually able to play through the first 30 minutes or so. It had its crashes, but I just started it back up and kept on playing. Until I got the Lt Hayes' tent. As soon as I'd try to enter, BOOM, crash to desktop. I pulled up all the new info and work arounds and stuff and still no progress. I put about 4 good hours into modifying files and updating drivers. Then a great calm came over me and I deleted this wretched piece of code that it supposed to be a game. This game reminds me of that old Ultima single player game that no one was able to get working, forget what it is now. I have asked for my money back, but I doubt that will happen. If it doesn't I'm going to chargeback on my credit card.

Good luck all and thanks for all the ideas.

You got further than I did, I'm still in the first town trying everything under the sun to get crossfire to work (without using the d3d9.dll trick). I waited in great anticipation over the days then hours until it was released here and since I've spent all my play time working on it rather than playing it :D Which is fine because if it's this much fun just working on it, I can't wait to actually play it. Which reminds me to bring in the HD textures from Fallout 3 and see how many can port over.
