Overseer Campbell's Fate

Post » Thu Oct 25, 2012 6:44 am

Just a small treat I found in the game. If you use the heretics brand on Overseer Campbell (the non-lethal option) you can find him further through the game turned into a Weeper.

When you get to where Daud drops your gear in the warehouse in the flooded district you can find him wandering around down the bottom beside your equipment...

Just thought that it was a nice touch to the game and wanted to share it.

There's a diary page nearby from him also, where he expands a bit on what happened to him following the branding.

I loved that touch. I considered easing his pain with a knife through the throat, but decided against spoiling my Clean Hands achievement.

personally i think it's worst fate for him (slow dead, plague and all) than simply stabbing him during his mission... found it odd that it was the "good" choice along with the doyle lady one all the others where okay though.

It wasn't necessarily the 'good' choice. It was the 'non-lethal' choice.

You can get low chaos while still killing your targets.

Yeah, I think they very specifically say "non-lethal", they are not trying to imply that you've done "good" by not sticking a knife in your target. I went non-lethal for Lady Boyle, and when that guy uttered his parting line, about her learning to love him, I was kind of horrified.

Very Stockholm Syndrome-ish, yes.

And agreed. Just because the choice is non-lethal, doesn't necessarily mean that it's a kinder, or gentler choice. The Pendleton twins, for another example.... laboring in the mines with their tongues cut out until they died.

The non-lethal options simply keep YOUR hands clean. But generally end up with worse results for the person you "spared", and honestly are more fitting punishments for their actions.
