Oversight - Enchantment

Post » Mon May 14, 2012 11:09 pm

Bethesda, bethesda...
If you are using the enchantment to build something new, there is no way to see which objects you are going to destroy... which you are wearing !
So you end up destroying everything in your inventory just to discover you are naked like a chicken...
No arrows, no icons, nothing. How can I distinguish the items I am wearing and using so I do not have to destroy them?
Answer: impossible.

... You could remember which ones are important to you. Regardless, you can only destroy one item per enchantment type to learn that enchantment. You messed up and got naked but it shouldn't happen again.

Please. Where is the arrow ? The mark?
I should remember among dozens of items? But why??? Just because the menu is horrible?

I have never disenchanted something without knowing whether I am wearing it or not.

Sorry man, didn't mean to offend.. I often take for granted my ability to remember the names of a couple items that are important to me..

I appreciate the irony. We all have many Albus Dumbledore here. Nice!
But in this case, it's a glitch. No arrow, no mark. So please, face the truth, it need to be fixed soon.

I am facing the truth. If this had happened to me, I would blame myself for not paying attention to what I was doing. Since it didn't happen to me, I am instead blaming you for not paying attention to what you were doing.

You aren't forced to remember "dozens of items" you are forced to remember only FIVE, the ones you are wearing!

It isn't a glitch. It's a convenience so you don't have to constantly change menus to equip and unequip items to disenchant them. It isn't that hard. You picked out what to wear. Why can't you remember what you personally chose to wear?

On my game there are white arrows next to what I currently have equipped. And little white triangles next to things I've put in favorites. On the screenshot you posted I saw neither of those things, so I don't know if that's just because you don't have anything equipped or if there's a bug with your version :(

If I had to remember what I am wearing tell me why during the game there is the need of the cursor-arrow-mark.

@ Eisoj5 : thank you, this is the first intelligent answer I received. Maybe this happens only during the enchantment and believe me it should not.

First of all, it's not a glitch. I have not made fun of you, nor have I acted immaturely. I'm sorry that it upsets you that multiple people have suggested that you pay attention to what you're doing next time, but I'm hardly stupid and long past twelve.

I have noticed that sometimes in certain types of crafting, the arrows can vanish. Its just a bug. You have no choice but to reload, or move on. There may be an official mechanism for reporting bugs, but I dont know what that would be.

You don't need to remember "only the 5 that you are wearing"....I carry all kinds of enchanted stuff for different situations. Ring to raise pickpocketing. Necklace for Smithing. Necklace for archery. Ring for enchanting. Dagger for soul stealing. Dagger of frost. Dagger of fire. Etc. etc. etc.
Anyway my point is that I do carry lots of things that I wouldn't want to accidentally disenchant...However, I do generally remember which ones I want to keep and I haven't accidentally disenchanted anything as of yet. But I can see the OP's point.

If there is a way to catch the attention for this bug, I would do it. Thank you guys for appreciating my little effort.

I'm sorry, but it takes, what, five seconds to look at your apparel tab to see what you have equipped? Don't be so lazy.

I second the motion to "Pay attention to what you are doing". How can you disenchant your items without noticing they are what you are wearing?

Sigh. So the game should keep up with things not only that you are wearing, but things you like and want to occasionally wear or use in the future? How is it supposed to know what those things are?

And finally for those that can't be bothered remembering simple lists:

Mark the items you are wearing as Favorites and they will have an arrow next to them in the enchanting interface. There. Your non-existent problem is solved.

You got to be kidding!
It's crucial for me what I wear as a mage, since it matters whether if it is 50% more magicka or 15%. Same with the staffs, swords, boots, hoods. It makes such a difference, that it's living or dying (a lot).

What the hell is wrong with you people? Don't even know how to play a game??
