Owning a Farm in Skyrim

Post » Wed Jun 13, 2012 7:25 am

So out of all the Player houses you can't own a Farm. There should be a small farm some where in the vastness of Skyrim that you can purchase. I was also thinking upgrade, expand, and higher workers(farm hands, guards, and etc) for the farm. You could create quests associated to it and have an income based on how lvled your farm is. Any suggestions or comments on this idea?

It would be great as a money sink if there are very expensive farms to buy, expensive upgrades, labor horses and field workers with monthly wages. I'd also hope for natural hazard like in real agriculture, so not all the seasons end with profit, some will end with loss.

Hahaha nah start it cheap like tiny one room hut and small patch and expand it. Maybe make it the beginning of a town in skyrim with mill, tavern, and shop.

If you're on PC the mod Live Another Life (http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=9557) lets you begin the game as a farmer.

I sincerely think that i would definitely gone mad in few days playing a Tes game in such way..

i mean, what the hell..doin' those things in a simulator like "the medieval sins" or whatever their name is...

apart from joke if i've to choose i would largely prefer to buy a very expensive castle and to locate here with my little lovely army -Cicero,Lucien Lechance and a Dremora Lord :bunny:

Games like Harvest Moon and farmville are based around building up a farm. Surely TES can do it better.

Pfft i mean sure, if you can pull yourself away from the delight which is Farmville...

In all seriousness, i think it would make sense. You'd have to invest to make more money, and it would give you a reason to make more money when starting off, so the dungeon rawling and DB contracts would be more desireable because without it, your farm would perish, leaving you with less money than before. You also have to travel regularly, tending to it. If it gets to a certain fitness level, you could sell it.

I was thinking a bit more self sufficient farm but I like the idea of having to keep a constant gold flow into it. Almost like the income generated from it is decreased by how much you pay others to work in it
