Is there anyway to get to the Melissa girl WITHOUT going through the quarry? Then Deathclaws keep on killing me.

You don't have to go THROUGH the Quarry.

At Good Springs take the road and head north you will eventually come out the backside of the Quarry and the Deathclaw population is generally smaller.

had the same problem, so i went out, spent 8000 caps on the anti-material rifle, climbed up the rocks to the left of the front entrance of the quarry and sniped all the deathclaws one by one.

i used a stealth boy and hugged the left wall till i got to the path up the quarry, my sneak was like 15 so im sure you can do it with any character and a stealth boy
