Ok so i'd just glanced at the forum homepage and noticed the birthdays section and the ages of some folk- which made me think. Its obvious that among all the members of this site there are bound to be a fair few parents. But I for one know no-one in RL whose parents play or play with their sons/daughters. Does anyone else find this rare? And if your parents do play with you, are there only some games they'll play?

For instance the only time my parents (who up until this point had taken no interest) have taken an interest was when I bought 'Caesar III' and they each had a couple of hours trying to build a city. Fifteen years later and they've not played or taken an interest since; and now that I think about it I hope the disinterest wasn't a direct result of playing Caesar III, man I played that game to death.

I also have my dad (somewhat ironically) to thank for getting me into PC gaming- his old Packard Bell came with a bundle of discs including 'Fallout'.

My dad, brother and I used to play a lot of deathmatch shooters together as well.

We played a lot of Golden Eye for the N64 and most recently, Modern Warfare 2. Now the only thing that interests him is graphics. The realer it looks, the more interested he is.

Hmm, is your dad of the 60's generation? I suppose the answer boils down in part to a generation thing.

I'm a parent, I've introduced both of my daughters into video games. On the other hand, I got my mom to play wheel of fortune with me on both the NES and on he PC a few times growing up, but that was literally the extent of their involvement with me and video games.

I'm a grandparent. Neither my wife or any of my brothers and sisters are/were gamers, but myself, my kids and my grandkids game like hell.

It's my father who bought the N64. Ah, how that would define my childhood...

My father enjoys playing Temple Run OZ on his ipad.

My dad got me into gaming in the early 90s. I used to sit and watch him play Interplay's Lord of the Rings. He also used to be really into Halo, like going to midnight releases and everything. When I become a parent I won't stop gaming. It's important to me. My future children will definitely be exposed to gaming.

i'm a parent who games with my daughter. Right now we mostly play older games that you can find on XBL (like Toejam and Earl) and minecraft together, cause she's only 9.

When i was younger all i could get my mom to play with me were the old arcade hits, like Centipede, Frogger, and Mrs. Pac-man. I used to laugh when she tried to play Mario Bros. You know, cause the whole moving the controller up and over when she tried to jump type of stuff.

My dad played games at the arcade when he was growing up. I don't think he's played any console or pc games.

Unless we count slot games on the Ipad then no...other than my friends, a couple of which have kids, I know no gaming parents other than those similar to my age.

My dad ultimately got me into gaming. Started with an Atari 2600, Apple IIe, Coleco Vision, Commodore 64 (my personal favorite platform) then finally PC. I've stuck with PC for 99% of my gaming well into my advlthood.

I am a parent as well. I don't game with my son much, if ever. We do once in a while but bit often. When we do play DM games he kicks my ass. We're actually both playing GTA V at the same time and are competing on who does what or finds first.
