The lady downstairs was still in her house and I didn't know that at the time, but the lady who was yelling at me from outside said the dog was in the house and the door was open so we got the dog and then my mom said something about the lady who lives in that house being in there still and we found out she was and she came out a few seconds later with the cop and I went to the back and saw the fire as it was crawling up the side of the addition and I was starting to get the shakes thinking I was going to lose my property (lol priorities!). Anyways I went by the lady who was calling my name and told her thanks, because she was the one who alerted me to the fire (lady downstairs was sleeping, had just taken sleeping pills so was completely out of it) and called 911. 2 minutes later all the fire engines got there and the small (yet scary) fire was put out. But the whole commotion lasted about an hour and I'm still shaking from it. Thankfully the neighbor was around and was able to call 911, and alert me as well. My house might not be here anymore if it wasn't for her. I'm also very lucky to live less than 8 blocks from 2 fire stations, so they were able to get here really fast and put the fire out before it got big and engulfed the entire house.
Anyways, I don't have renters insurance and now I'm going to get some. So anyone else ever experience something like this? I know possessions are kind of a silly thing to worry about in a case like this but..I don't know I don't want to lose all I own.
