Patch broke the game

Post » Tue Nov 02, 2010 3:53 am

Every single person that grabbed the new patch is getting missing DLC errors, and a good portion (including myself) are getting freezes while saves load.

Was this even tested? It's got a 100% failure rate from what I've seen so far.

Boo Bethesda, atm in my books they really do svck. :(
Such an amazing game yet such [censored] testing on a product prior to being released into the wild. I'm so pissed off right now.

First off the patch comes 6 months after release to finally stabilize the game. Then we have to wait the longest to get the patch that supposedly goes through some check system at Microsoft, who then release it in the early mornings that doesn't work with the DLC that was purchased off of Xbox Live. WTF is going on at Bethesda and Microsoft that no one has caught this bug. Does anyone actually test anything anymore. I'm just speechless. I guess Microsoft is messed up about New Vegas when they still have the Honest Hearts image for the e3 trailer and teaser trailer for New Vegas.

I was going for 100% completion. I think a whole-hearted 'eff you' to Bethesda and Microsoft is deserved.

I'm gonna lay odds that the patch is corrupt. 8Mb doesn't seem large enough when we were hearing 200Mb+ from the PC users.

Deleted the patch and playing offline, game now works fine for me. :celebrate: I can't speak for everybody though.

I get
" this save game relies on downloadable content that is no longer available. Some objects maybe no longer available. Continue loading?"

Bugger :(

DLC notification + freeze on load.

I *had* the Mercenary Pack and Dead Money installed.

I deleted the patch but I'm still completely [censored] because nothing has changed.

What I Did: Loaded game, got patch, left game, deleted Dead Money + Tribal Pack, reinstalled, started up game.

What Happened: Got the DLC warning, game loaded fine, all dead money and tribal pack items remain, safehouse items reset.

So it's fine I guess...for now, except my prized nuka cola trucks were dumped onto the floor by BoS gear <_<

I had the same message but my games loaded and played fine. What I did notice was that my saves after the patch were good. When I loaded up my new saves I did not receive any errors. All my DLC (merc pack and dead money) seem to work still. Wierd I guess.

Settings > Memory > HDD > Fallout New Vegas then look for Title Update #3. Delete it and it should be all good to go. It worked for me...

Strange, my early saves load ok, up to about 16 hours in. However the subsequent save in the Repconn test facity and onwards all fail. I'm about 60 hours in now so can't remember what part of the main storyline I was on. The only unusual "item" from around that point I can think of is the space suit. I'm guessing those of us with the crashing issue have one of the "removed items" in our inventory...

Hey guys. We’re aware of the New Vegas save issue people are seeing with the new update on Xbox 360. We're investigating the issue and will keep you posted.

Awesome, I can confirm that deleting the patch as described by Jaysonic works a treat! :disguise:

The real concern is that this has happened... Bethesda owes it to its fans to give them an explanation as to why the hell this has happened.

Because they are idiots or Xbox Live are the idiots. We must have a corrupt patch or something. Even PS3 users lost their DLC and can't download it again cause PSN is down. Looks like the Steam version is the only good version.

In Bethesda's (really its Obsidian's) defense, this game was really complex compared to most console games (even when compared to Fallout 3). When you have a game this complicated (i.e. lots of freedom to do stuff) on a console, which is essentially like a good PC game; you're bound to get PC game level bugs. It's a lot harder to test, since there's a lot more variables than the normal console game. Really, they shouldn't have released this game until Fall of 2011. Obsidian has a bad habit of trying to do too much, with too little time and people. (Even after all the official patches were made to Fallout 1 & 2, there were still a lot of bugs left. Fallout 3 was bad in terms of bugs, but not this bad.)

On another note I don't think it was smart for Bethesda/Obsidian to layoff people that worked on New Vegas, given the circumstances.

That's not a defence for this bug. You get the message while you are loading a game save (pre-patch). This is the easiest bug to find. A hard bug to find would be a small area on the map that you fall through or a quest bug cause of all the overlapping quests.

I got lucky today.

I've been playing EZ Muze lately, and they uploaded a patch last week that broke their game & I lost hours and hours of work, so as I loaded F:NV today and got the update prompt, I thought "better check the forums first..."

Guess I'll hold off on this one for a while....

This seems to happen with ever Obsidian made game from what I have heard, but this.....this piss's me off. The update does all this stuff both good and BAD to weapons and is supposed to "fix" them, but instead I can't play the game at all. Great going.
