Patch Fixes

Post » Sun Dec 12, 2010 9:53 pm

I just installed the new 1.02 patch for PS3. Right off the bat, I'll say I am pleased that I can now enter The Strip without equipping the Old Cowboy Hat! That was one of the most major issues that I and a number of folks on this forum have had. Also, my game was broken to the point where it would freeze if I so much as looked at Gomorrah. Now, I can move freely around the casino inside and out, so hooray for that.

Unfortunately, I've still encountered problems (of the game-breaking variety).

*minor spoilers ahead*

1. In the quest, The Moon Comes Over the Tower, I'm at the point where all I need to do is meet the girl (I forget her name, it's been so long) outside of the Lucky 38. The quest marker still points eternally to an unoccupied position outside the Lucky 38, rendering this quest unfinishable.

2. More importantly, my current story quest is For the Republic, Part 2, wherein I'm asked to investigate the Muertas within Gomorrah. The receptionist still doesn't have any dialogue options which allow me to advance the quest, nor do any NPCs within Gomorrah. And the quest marker points me yet again to an unoccupied position in the foyer of the casino. I cannot complete the objective of investigating the Muertas short of killing the casino staff unprovoked (which then prompts me to return to the NCR officer and lie - something my goodie-two-shoes character would not do).

Conclusion: Being the eternal optimist that I am, I'm going to assume that the 33 hours I spent on this broken game pre-patch corrupted my game file to the point where no patch can fix these game-breaking bugs. I'm going to write off that time as lost and start over on my good character (by now I would have been starting my cold-hearted opportunist character, but oh well). I'm going to assume that after 30 more hours, when I'm back to where I am now but with this comprehensive patch being in effect the entire time, I'll be able to complete these quests as they were meant to be completed. For now, I'm reserving judgment, and I'll let y'all know in a few weeks how that turns out for me.

the quest where you got investigate the omertas

the quest markers are wrong but you can still do the quest all you do is talk to receptionist to get some details about the family business then you got to talk to cachino which is in the brimstone area he wont talk so you go back to receptionist buying cachino room key to get his journal which gets him talking
the 2 guys that you have to deal with are around the suites level

That sounds suspiciously like a quest I've already half-completed. You see, I've done all that before the NCR ordered me too. But telling Big Sal that I did what he wanted me to and getting the reward for the quest gains me Strip infamy, so I never finished the quest.

PS: And finishing that quest for the Omuertas (what ever their name is) Does not help For the Republic, Part 2 - Big Sal still doesn't tell me about his plans. Like I said - going to start fresh.

Pretty expansive, if you ask me. It'll be awesome if the same fix covers the 360 version. I shouldn't run into any gamebreaking issues, considering I havn't even started the game yet.

Thankyou Gstaff. It's good to know I'll be able to play sometime next week without any gamebreakers. :)

I think that this is probably the best option. svcks but it could be much worse. Also you think it might take a few weeks to get to 33 hours? Wow...I feel really awful now :). I can get to 33 hours in about 3 days. I am HORRIBLY addicted to sandbox style games and this one is no different. *sigh* I hope that my wife doesn't try to hold another intervention. I thought I headed that off by getting her addicted to FO3.

The VAST majority of the time patches cant retro fix things that are already caput in your save so ya most times its best to restart characters that are buggy and maybe even just restart em all.

Good luck with that.

We all appreciate the scripting fixes, but what about the horrendous bugs that cause you to fall into oblivion or get stuck in terrain or shut your system down constantly? These aren't new issues, nor are they rare, so why doesn't anyone acknowledge them? Or atleast be man enough to admit it if they can't fix it.

Ha, well normally, it would take me about the same, but with finals and then Christmas break, I won't have as much time to devote.

I also read the list of updates, and that gives me more optimism that a new playthrough will run much smoother. If it does, I'll thank the developers for making right their mistakes.

i remember doing this mission and it wasnt about getting information off big sal it mainly on troike and clandon getting them to leave aswell and destroying gun shipment by passing a speech check with troike then cachino gives you plans to kill big sal and some other dude by big sal side cachino helps you and gives you a shotgun to kill them then that mission taken care of

you got gets notes like from cachino desk is his journal and clandon room where he has a safe showing his holotape and in big sal safe is information on troike which is blackmail for troike

We're trying to keep the number of duplicate/similar threads to a minimum on these boards. Please continue any further discussion or feedback of the latest patch on http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1147839-patch-102-does-it-even-work/.
