Patch 1.7 'issues' list.

Post » Thu Aug 02, 2012 1:23 am

Things that I've noted about 1.7...

1. One of my games 'save numbering' went berserk (save game # 43792? seems to come to mind, I know it was 43xxx followed by save game 000...). 3 others didn't, so probably just a mild case of save-itus. Still, worth noting. (If only because the last number save before rollover isn't binary in origin) Deleting back a few saves didn't help. Had to re-start whole game. Something in the saves (all of them) as I couldn't make a new game and use the old saves. Oh well, I'm sure we've all had corrupted saves before...

2. Butterflies are harder to 'grab'. I clicked on one today, (over head) and it didn't get caught, but it didn't move away from crosshairs, either. It just stayed 'caught' on my crosshairs while I madly clicked on it until it finally got 'caught'. Noises each time I clicked, just no capture. Happened several different times, different places, different games. Also seems to be more butterflies available. (Maybe I just notice them more, as I'm having issues capturing them.)

3. Opening books animation seems to have the 'spinning' effect much more often. And it seems that more times now there is no 'instant' close, so you have to see the closing anim. more often. Including 'spinning' close...

I have tested the book and butterfly scenarios on same character, same place, different patch (1.6 vs 1.7), and there is a noticeable difference. And I'd call the butterfly capture issue a 'bug'.

Guess the patch didn't work miracles for everyone.

Seems to balance itself out if there are more butterflies but simply harder to grab?

You could just slice the butterflies with a weapon instead. But that first bug, now that's a real problem.

Does 1.7 clear up weapons from defeated enemies?

If you kill someone, they drop their weapons on the ground. Return some time later, and the bodies are gone but the weapons remain, increasing save file size.

Has this been fixed? Thanks.

I am sorry, this is the issues list topic, not the fixed issues list. That topic is pinned and locked on the top of the Skyrim general discussion forum!

No. It wasn't in the patch notes.

Anecdotal evidence from a few sources seems to indicate that the 'dropped weapons' issue has disappeared. From my saves it would be hard to tell, as I always clean up the messes I make... Judging form the file sizes at about the same gametime from versions 1.5, 1.6 and 1.7 seems to indicate to me that there has been no noticeable improvement.

I tried to clean up my mistakes, but like a few ash piles and anomaly remains, there's a few shields and weapons floating about 15 feet in the air. Can't reach 'em.

I have this in 1.6. It's rare, but I don't mind it, it's amusing.

It is a 'feature' that has been around since 11.11.11. It never showed up much, in fact in 1.5 I don't really remember it happening. Same for 1.6. It seems that it could happen 25% of the time, by default (there is a section in the saveini ini that seems to deal with it..) and now it seems that it does. It is cute, once or twice...

Sorry....

If you're apologizing cause your advice doesn't work, don't feel bad. Honest mistake. If you're showing sympathy because I made the unfortunate mistake of getting this game on the PS3, then yeah... I'm sorry about that too.

Guess it's time to start saving up for a PC.

I've never seen it before. Only yesterday I've stumbled upon it while (actually, before) reading "Racial Phylogeny".
