Patch 1.6 on PC, not on PS3 leads to a question

Post » Fri Nov 16, 2012 11:12 pm

Most users not on console are using a Microsoft OS (windows 7 etc) to play Skyrim via steam, PC got the 1.6 patch, PS3 did not, Microsoft owns windows OS. So wishful thinking hopes we PC users might get Dawnguard before PS3?

So my question is, if anyone is knowledgeable about this and could tell me if Dawnguard could release on PC before PS3, if that is a possibility. I am just curious?

I don't think so. Microsoft don't give a [censored] about gaming on their Windows OS now, since they can't get a cent from games sold for it. Maybe they'll care more for PC gaming once Windows 8 is out(think of all those metro apps and 30% or something cut for Microsoft).

For now the only reason PC can get patches more often and sooner than consoles is probably due to certification process.

I am sure this is right, and really makes no point into looking into PC getting patch 1.6 before PS3 but its just wishful thinking because I want to play the dlc. I need to take my mind off Skyrim completely until Dawnguard does release on PC

Microsoft hates PC gaming. They have zero control over it, make far less money off of it, the consumers have higher standards, and the customers actively despise their gaming business. They aren't willing to pay for laggy peer to peer networking and they also aren't stupid enough to buy an untested $200 OS for Halo 2. Really I think MS set Halo 2 up to fail so they could blame piracy and abandon PC on the moral high ground so regulators wouldn't notice / malice couldn't be proven.

The GPU builders basically force them to develop DirectX under threats that they'll take up OpenGL themselves and start supporting Linux over Windows, which frightens MS because regulators would violate their naughty places with rusty nail bats if MS tried something like paying devs to use GFWL on Linux to intentionally worsen the games.
