Patch thoughts and observations...

Post » Wed May 16, 2012 7:55 pm

I decided to run the game right before installing the new patch just to make sure there were differences, and there certainly are.

First thing is, pre-patch Riverwood had noticeable FPS drop, but wasn't game-breaking. Post-patch, it was completely gone, nice and smooth. It did affect the graphics though, and most people on here are exaggerating quite a bit when they say it's worse. I fast-traveled all over Skyrim, and honestly most of it looks the same, with only a few things here and there that got downgraded when it comes to textures. Really though, if that's what they had to do to get it to run this good, I'm absolutely fine with it.

Anyone else want to chime in about it?

The framerates for me have improved and I haven't really noticed too much of a difference graphically, but I did expect more from a 92mb patch. But In all honesty I haven't noticed to much of a difference, I still get slighty jerky gameplay but it's not as bad as it was.

I don't even notice a texture difference. It runs great for a while (but that's another discussion) and looks great. Still better than the Xbox.

So, has anyone encountered anymore framerate drops after the patch? I'm just concerned about its consistency...

Im a photographer, I see a slight degridation. Check the mist and snow and of course the textures dont pop out at you anymore.. Still lag in the menu.I was just starting to get the lag with a 6 MG save. I noticed the stones in the buildings dont have the texture. No freezes when the magic goes off, is Ok.Very slight downgrade but playable. Looking like half way to oblivion. Love the game though.

The frame rate has always been good for me and I haven't really noticed any visual changes. If anything though, I hope that bethesda improves the visuals eventually, it looks far worse than it should.

The frame rates are bad for me still. And unplayable 1 or 2fps after awhile, since the patch.
I have noticed an improvement in the menus now though. I no longer get the 10 second wait before each menu command is selected.
Saving and loading times seem a bit longer. The progress bars are a joke just like before, 99% taking 0.1% of total time to progress then the final 1% taking 99.9% of the actual time...
Surely a programmer would notice this and adjust the feature accordingly.
Although if it was me i would be lazy and just delete the progress feature completely and just display a rotating symbol. gamesas are so lazy they dont even bother to just be lazy.

Yes, I played 2 hours straight tonight and the game was more and more lagging the more I played. At the end of the 2 hours, the game crash to the ps3 xmb.
WoW!!!, Nice patch!!
I have 55 hours of game play and my save drop from 14mb to 11mb whit the new patch, I have the latest firmware 3.73 and now it crash.
Anyone else got this problem.

I my brother came over and brought his ps3 version over.... and I installed the patch and used my same character that i was using while playing the ps3 version and in fact it does run quite good now...played for 3 hours......then i shoed off my new character on the 360 and both seem to be running equally now..... the graphics are not as nice on the ps3.... its has very muddy textures still... but it runs much better I might buy it on ps3 cause I will be going to the country house and I only have a ps3 there.......
